Since when was there a stigma on buying groceries that are on offer?0

There certainly IS a stigma against certain supermarkets and Internet delivery services on MSE. I've seen posts that proclaim shopping at Waitrose and Sainsbury's to be un-MSE and been called smug for buying organic Cheddar cheaper than Cathedral City from Abel & Cole.:(
To me a bargain is a bargain so I'll buy my Yeo Valley yogurt from Abel & Cole because it's cheaper than my local supermarkets. I'll buy 6 kitchen rolls for 99p from 99p Stores and go to Lidl for prosciutto di Parma at 1.99.0 -
I never realised there was stigma attached to buying things on offer...I tend to keep my shopping list as flexible as possible and rotate where I shop so I can take advantage of offers. I wouldn't have thought anyone would look down on that kind of thing. Am I missing something?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0

Still get 'sleep walking' shoppers everywhere. These shoppers buy the same stuff week in, week out without looking at the prices.0

I seem to recall a time when recipients of, I think, Income Support were given food vouchers as part of the benefit. I think there really was a stigma attached to using those vouchers but I'm not aware of any stigma attached to using supermarket vouchers and taking up money-off deals.

I know this has been discussed before but i admit to being guilty of "trolly watching"
but i noticed MORE activity on the reduced than there used to be
My day off today after my park walk it was ALDI then Iceland and am seeing the same faces lucking at the reduced i put a 1/2 price minted lamb chop down after looking at it but by the time i was on the next aisle it had goneGc 2013 +26 -5. -4 -7 -14 -15 -10.-8.20 +15p+30+5.80 Dec +9 GROCERY challenge 2014 Jan -2Feb -3 March -1.50 April +5.40 May +4.90 June -3.July 16.50/85

I have noticed that in my local Morrisons there are lots of reduced items throughout the day and into the evening (all at much better reduced prices that Tesco) where as at Tesco in the next town they are all snapped up very quickly. I do think in this town there is not so much a stigma, but a keeping up with the jones' mentality in which people would rather be seen to not buying reduced foods etc.
At ALDI this morning the lady in front of me had all the branded things they sell - I was thinking whether she had tried their version and not liked it or not as to me if you go to ALDI you can explore all the brand-alternative items at reduced cost and most are just as good - but obviously I don't know her reasoning. She had fruit and veg so I could only think she wanted to save money but not give up branded items - in that respect no one going to her home would think she shopped at ALDI. I could be totally wrong in that but it did make me wonder!0 -
I know it's supposed to be an urban myth but this actually happened to me in the queue at Lidl when woman two in front of me answered her phone and said " I can't talk now I'm in Sainsbury's".The whole queue bust up laughing.0

I used to shop at Makro, Aldi, and Lidl. Heard of Netto, but there's no Netto near me. Never heard any negative comments about them, but I have heard a strange comment about Costco. He saw a John Lewis shopping bag I had, and said you must be a better class of customer, not like some of these people who shop at Costco. I didn't let on that I was a long time Costco member, to get through the encounter as peacefully as I can.
If Costco was a country, I would be a citizen. I wish Costco built houses, so I can buy one. Oh dear, he is right. I am peculiar.0
