  • as i see it there a few things on this,£10 billion sounds terrible but £10billion over 4 years less so,i also think the figures take into account what they believe falling unemployment and falling jsa claims, also the esa cb 365 savings
    unless someone knows better?
  • Very sad indeed it was predicted to be a Millionaires Budget with an assault on the poor.

  • £10bn on top of £30bn minus real attempts to get tax from Tax evaders is bad news. That money is easily retrievable with efforts to dismantle the current system so the Treasury gets the Revenues concerned, THEN you can deal with !!!!lessness on Benefits when you examine the causes of joblessness.

Yes, also £10 billion is a drop in the ocean. Welfare has, surprisingly, not been cut by as much as the average 19% which other govt spending has...

Still, don't want to spoil the fun of those who seem to like scaring vunerable people...

I got my annual award letter today. Despite being told that I'd be getting a 5.2% increase, my increase is actually equivalent to 0.9% as the age addition part of my benefit has gone down. I'm now going to be a massive 95p per week better off. None of this was publicised, I didn't get any notification that my money was actually going to go DOWN before I got the 5.2% increase. Talk about misleading the public, how many people got angry at the thought of scroungers like me getting a massive 5% increase???

Thank God my fiance got a pay rise ;-)
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

£10Bn isn't as dramatic as it sounds. Once the economy picks up, a lot of that can be saved with a million people coming off the dole and going back into work.

A million people each getting JSA, council tax benefit and housing benefit adds up to a pretty sum.

How are you getting a drop when you're getting more money per week?

There are millions of working people funding your benefits who have seen a real cash terms loss in their wages, some to the tune of 20-30% and many many others who in cash terms haven't had a rise for three or four years now.
