Our Aygo was cheaper this year than last, so I'm unsure what to do.

I've got the renewal form here for the guzzler at £455 for the year, wondering if there is a chance it will go down.

  • Couldn't agree more with this, I got caught out with this last March, ended up paying far more for tax than needed to because I renewed too late. Our small hatchback cost over £200 for the last 12months.

No they didn't sneak it, it was in last year's budget. You bought before the price went up in the 2011 budget which is what you are being advised to do again.

Mine is due at the end of April and it also went up £5.

I hear the Government are going really soft on the environment nowadays, so yes this could drop by as much as half.

Apart from the fact these big guzzlers don't really cause any global warming problems and that the thing is all a big con to tax the hell out of motorists and the like, revenue generators.

"I know lets do a tax nobody will object to. How? Just say we are all gonna die if we don't tax transport, cars, planes (APD) etc" Where is the money going? Is it going to 'save us'? Is it hell and the problem doesn't exist in the first place. Even if it did there would be nothing we could do about it in our miniscule lifetimes.

BTW: This is fruitless. The government will still screw you next year instead.

Just got the new one for mine (12 months) and there was a 100% increase in cost :(

Then again, seeing as it was free last year, 100% of nothing is bearable :p

Might do. My last car went down from £35 for the year to £30. The new one is £20.
