It's about time gas and electric prices were slashed for everyone, not just for those on certain benefits.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!
  • This isn't about gas and electricity prices, it's about insulation, etc.

If we really want to reduce gas and electricity prices we need to abandon renewals/green technology, scrap carbon taxes, increase competition in the markets and start extracting as much shale gas as possible.

  • Well i am lucky as i am sitting here waiting for someone to come from Warmfront today. The appointment was made 5 months ago and took 2 months to get that far from first application.

It does seem to take a long time which i assume can put some people off.

Carillion are making all 200 engineers redundant, so who will be carrying out the work? At present their web site states 'inhouse engineers' but this won't be the case by March 2012.

Surprisingly, given that I have spent hours over the past few months reading up on what help is available to pensioners,

I never realised that this scheme was available.

So I telephoned 0800 316 2805 this morning only to be told that as the scheme is coming to an end in March and it is very unlikely that any work would be approved by that date, they are not taking any new applications. The grants are only available if the work has been approved before the end of the scheme comes about.
I was told I should wait until April to find out if it will continue and if so, to get my application in early.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear when you consider what has been said about the lack of applications!

Diary noted for mid April to find out more.

i AM entitled to the warm home discount, but due to a mix up with door numbers and meter numbers ( long story) and Scottish Power dragging their heels, and not setting up our accounts ( even though we now know which meter belongs to which property) I will now not be able to get an application in before the end of january deadline.
This saga has been going on since September, so I already have a 5 month bill to pay ( thats assuming they sort it out immediately. but given the fact that 5 months have passed, and it's only as near to being sorted as it is because I've been on everyones case about it!

Ive e mailed them constantly, and they reply once in a blue moon.
I phone and they say they will send someone round to check .... this has been promised on numerous occasions, and no one has shown up.

    why should Scottish Power worry?
they know they can send us the bill and unless we pay up they will simply disconnect our electric!

Sorry for ranting but they have me fuming with their terrible customer service.

I am in Wales - I am directed here :http://www.nestwales.org.uk/
Seems British Gas are up to their old tricks again- gagging to install ghc wherever they can. I don't want ghc (cost to install circa £2000). I want an electric immersion heater replaced (cost to install circa £100) Easier to control and on Eco 7, and I can fit the timer myself.

I wish the schemes on offer were more flexible - and not just pandering to big business. Then maybe more people could be helped for the same outlay.

The whole system is too slow. By the time it is useful in getting a new boiler, the boiler has already been condemned so an URGENT replacement is needed.
