Cheap restaurants in Ibiza Town: Bon Profit in Plaza de Parque and Bar Juan in Calle Montgri. Pick up a free maps from Information in Main Square Vara de Rey. Boats to Formentera are cheaper from Figueretas or d'en Bossa beach than from the Town Harbour. Avoid pirate taxi's, they charge a lot. Ask about free concerts and events around town.

Bon Profit is not an 'Ibiza late' evening restaurant and I think has one day closed per week.

If you're staying in San Antonio DON'T book transfers to and from the airport!!!! They usually cost around £20+ per person each way!!!

Also over the years we found that the buses couldn't get up the majority of the back streets, where the hotels are :( so instead would drop us in the general area of our hotels and then give us garbled directions in Spanish (and once in Catalan) The taxi will take you to the door! :T

For €30 (£25) you can get a taxi for up to 4 people including all bags because all the taxis are Skoda estates with mahoooosive boots!:money:

Does anyone have any advice on transfers from Palma (Majorca) airport? I've looked at various sites and the transfer to Puerto de Soller seem to be approx £130 return for 4 of us (16pp each way). If we could get an ordinary taxi cheaper I'd be very happy :)
  • If you are staying in Palma nova area in the winter Calvia council have been doing lots of free trips and events up to end of march, going to the market, horse racing ,nature walks etc

In June we paid €55 one-way for a taxi from Palma Airport to a Fornalutx, which is a bit further north than Puerto de Soller. You can travel to your destination via a combination of bus, train and tram but probably don't want the hassle? To reduce costs a little consider taking one of the frequent (every 10 mins) buses from Sant Joan airport into Palma centre and get off at Plaza de Espana (by the train station). There are plenty of taxis waiting there.

Take the number 1 bus from the airport to Plaza Espana in the city centre, every 15 to 20 minutes from outside the terminal. At Plaza Espana it's a two minute walk to the bus station at the transport interchange. Take the 210 or 211 to Puerto Soller. The 211 goes via the tunnel and takes around 40 minutes, the 210 is more scenic but takes twice as long. In 2010 the total fare was €5.70. Make sure you've got some change as the buses don't take large denomination notes

Vist the Transport de les Illes Baleares TIB website for timetable details between Palma and Puerto Soller:

If you need to use up some time in Palma, just drink in the atmosphere at the station bar and sample that first cooling beer.

I received a quote for £180 return for 2 adults and 1 child by private transfer, £150 by taxi and £40 by shuttle bus.

Shuttle buses will only go to hotels and resorts and not to private accomodation or villas so you will need to get the name of a nearby hotel to use this service. Well worth it if its not too far. Even then you could get a local taxi for the final leg.

We just had a very reasonable pick-up from Palma to Pollenca in the North of the island for 65 euros. We were met by very friendly taxi driver on exit from arrivals and dropped off at the door to the house in Pollenca. Look up taxipmi.com. We found them excellent and will use them again.
