TBH you'd have to be crazy to invest in a long-term fix at the moment. The ECB has just raised interest rates, and with inflation running at well over double the target, the Bank of England will have no choice but to follow suit. Interest rates could easily hit 4% by next year, and there will be higher savings rates available.

Not crazy if the account is similar to the NR 5 year bond that this post is about, with only 6 months notice needed to withdraw funds it was essentially a 6 month fixed bond paying 5 yr rates. It was a very good offer.

You seem to be suggesting this offer was removed due to MSE's email. Delusions of grandure?

I'd think it does have a big effect though any grandure surely belongs to Snowman :snow_laug who posted details of the account and underlined the significance of the 180 day notice feature well over a week ago: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3139928

Hardly. MSE has a massive audience. There are 4 million people signed up to recieve the weekly MSE email, and many more read it online. The 'rush' caused by MSE newsletter has led to many deals being oversubscribed in the past.
