Decent tarrif for low usage.....
SIM only deal on the 'Fresh' tarrif with the Carphone Warehouse.
15p/minute all calls, to UK landline/mobile numbers. 5p all texts.
£10 for the SIM card but it's credited to your account. Have to register on a credit card but no ongoing costs, you only pay for calls/texts used. Make one call in 60 days to maintain account. Piggybacks TMobile.
I dumped Orange & unlocked my Nokia with ease thanks to advice/links on MSE. Gone from £25/month with unused minutes & texts each month to £5.50 for my 20 minutes of calls & 50 odd texts.
Most chuffed.
Much gratitude to Martin & his band of merry contributors :j

But the downside is you have to top up every 60 days.Where as other networks with similar tariffs dont insist on this.
Are your calls to landlines or mobiles?Do you text/ring lots of numbers or just 2 or 3.?PF.0 -
Hi PF
As I understand it - no top up required. You only pay for usage. The requirement is that you use the phone at least once in 60 days. Though your initial tenner runs out after the 1st 60 days.0 -
I got orange to switch me from a contract to their tariff that matches Virgin Mobile. I only pay for what I use by direct debit (usually about £2.50 a month). I still get my monthly itemised bill for free from Orange too and I don;t have to mess around with topups etc.0

Further to your last...............
I'm phoning land & mobile numbers, various. Texting, probably 4 or 5 numbers regularly, but on differing networks.0 -

Yes initial credit runs out after 60 days .But you must use any other credit up within 60 days of you putting it in,and you must make one call every 60 days.
One of the two https://www.tescomobile.com tariffs would probaly be better only have to use every 180 days.No need to top up until credit is low.
Or even https://www.easymobile.comPF.0 -
Fresh has no GPRS either though does it?0

The Tesco value tariff has its limitations also. But if you are talking about best for low users,it has to come into consideration. You even get Tesco Points on top ups

Was beginning to wonder if the rep had 'mislead' me after your comments. So have rung Carphone Warehouse.
If on a direct debit, as I am, not credit card as I erroneously stated previously, this is a repay, not a prepay tarrif. Billed at the end of the month for calls/texts used only. There is a £1 charge for itemised billing, which is not obligatory & I declined that option. So, I only pay for calls/texts used, after the fact. No loss of credit, no prepay, no hidden costs or tie in.
When someone brings in a similar deal with cheaper costs I'll change again, just let me know where to find it!0 -
