Own Up... What have you taken...?

Options
Once moved into a flat in London, and the previous owners took every shelf out of every cupboard... kitchen , bedroom, and bathroom !!

I expect some people to take lightbulbs etc... but shelves !!

Another house, they took every plug... kitchen and bathroom!!

Can anyone top that ?

I took the end of the aerial wire (the metal connector thingie) BUT it was a rented house and I had bought it myself as there wasn't one on when I moved in...... and my new house didn't have one either so I DID need it :o

I still felt mean though and the new occupants probably thought I was being really stingey when really it was the landlord that was at fault :o

Remember the film Moving Day? Where the old codger takes EVERYTHING and comes back because he forgot the rubber bands?

We moved into a place (when I was about 7) and he had taken everything that wasn't nailed down. Including all bulbs, the hall, stairs and landing carpet, the numbers from outside the house, some door handles, a toilet seat.

I remember mum crying when she tried to put some stuff away in the airing cupboard and all the shelves were gone.

It got worse! A few days later (after we had moved in), we came back from shopping and the man was in our back garden taking up the garden slabs.

The best bit was - Dad was then a policeman, and after a quick phone call, a few "friends" came round and arrested him for something (I was too young to understand what it actually was - but assume it was probably trespassing and theft!)

We never saw him again, and Dad was kept DIY busy for a lot of week after that! Mind you, both parents have been really really picky on house contracts now!

I helped a friend move house once who handed me a screwdriver to remove all the curtain rails even though they were just cheap plastic things, and they were packing it all into storage as they had not yet found a house where they were going!
Mind you,her husbands company was paying for the move and the storage.
She even packed the tumble drier fluff she was saving to stuff toys she had made!I've never seen so many boxes for a family of three!

plants, curtain rails, light fittings, my silver dustbin, shelves, chrome light switchs etc just about everything i'd ever put into the place.

    BUT

i did say on the fixtures form that it was all going, and offered to sell the light fittings [they were new], and even if i'd taken them - she bought, at cost, and was given the warranty receipt-, they would have been replaced with pendants, and/or much cheaper new spot lights. holes after shelves filled, and new white plastic lightswitches put back. i also threw out all the rubbish, even from the garage.

i also left a nice bottle of wine, and a happy new home card.

    Unbelievable, the lot of yer!

Digging plants up and taking tiles and door numbers, I'd bring back public stoning for people this sad and tight.

Ps best thread ive seen in ages I hate tight gets and love slagging them off

I've done the opposite in the past. Rather than taking everything away, I've left as much junk as possible. Good opportunity for a clear out!
