Npower Having a Laugh!!!

We moved into a two bedroom, double glazed semi bungalow in April. Although we got keys in March, we left everything off until 27 April. The place has cavity wall insulation and loft insulation. We got a gas bill from Npower for £264 gas for March 27th to May 3rd. We weren't here for a month of that!!!. I called them and got fobbed off, apparently 12000kw/h is "a little high" Oh My Gosh. I nearly feel off my cahir! HIGH, its flippin stupid!!!!! I told them that the heating and water are on for a maximum of 4 hours a day each and they worked out we are using 22 units a day! We dont have an gas cooker and the heating is hardly on. They told me i must have used it and speak to energy efficiency, they got us to take meter readings for a week and then finally they agreed something might be wrong as with not heating on for a week we still exceeded 16 units a day. So now we are heading towards a meter accuracy test but i phoned them today to fins out some more and a snotty woman told me "to be honest, gas meters don't have the capability to go wrong!" Well thats not true!!! My aunt had one that was faulty, my husbans nan had a faulty one!! Why lie, everything has the capability to go wrong its just they dont want to admit it!! They pass you from pillar to post and wont take any responsibility!!!!

Whilst were on the subject of 'taking responsibility' did you take and supply a meter reading to nPower when you got the keys in March? Is this the start reading on the bill?
Is the latest meter reading an actual? (and realistic based on the meter reading now). If it's an estimate you should be able to provide a customer reading and they should re-issue the bill.
As for gas meters, actually the usual style meters can go wrong, but usually when they do they read low, not high. This is because they work by gas passing over a finned wheel rotating the meter. If the wheel becomes stuck, or a fin breaks, a low reading results. The wheel can't really turn faster than it should."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
They are absolutly usless one hand doesnt know what the other hand is doing, and as for the staff you get three different answers to the same question. They dont let you know whats going on you have to ring all the time to find out whats going on and they dont know they havnt a clue.
They arranged for my meter to be read and i stayed in all day and thedidnt turn up made another appointment and this time turned up read the meter, i rang after a fortnight to find out whats what and they had lost the reading, enough is enough i have had it with them.0 -
yeah took meter readings and so did the housing association. It was an actual reading! I called again today and they actually admitted that "1 in 3 million can give an overly large reading". I contacted OFGEM and they said if Npower don't resolve it to call them back. I need to get shares in the phone company! At least I would get some money back!0

if you took the readings when you moved in, and take them today.
how many units have you actually used, and how many are the charging you for / forecasting you for.0 -
i gave meter readings , when we moved in when it camt to over a month later and they hadnt taken any money and noticed the DD wasnt set up they didnt even recognise supplying the place ! had to give them the serial number
they also said i would get a bill on the 6th june , yep logged in and still nothing there , no bill since we moved in (feb 2nd) and im worried our DD`s are going down a black hole
soon as i receive the bill i can arrange moving0 -
nPower were unable to supply me a correct bill for over 12 months. In the end I sent them an invoice for my time chasing it that far exceeded the (incorrect) bill they were requesting from word go.
They never got back to me. That was 4 years ago.0
