Gotta type fast, it won't last long.

My mouse (trackball) keeps vanashing from the screen & an error message comes up about a USB device at the same time (its like the PC is loosing it - the trackball).

The only way to get it working again, is to switch off by holding the button in till it stops, then restarting.

Sometimes I sign on & it does it with a minute or so, sometimes it lasts a few minutes. Fingers crossed I can get this post wrote.

I had tech help at the weekend - is it another similar (or linked) fault, do you think?

This is the thread from the weekend

Once the mouse pointer vanishes & the error message comes up, you can't do anything except turn off (the way you shouldn't) & restart.

Thank you to anyone that can help.

Try to use another mouse which connects to the computer via the mouse port, NOT a USB one.

Also try the mouse in another USB port if possible, to turn the pc off you can use the windows key on your keyboard (assuming the crash allows you).

you can then user the cursor keys, tab key and the enter key to navigate and switch it off. If you notice on menu's some words have an underscore under a letter this means if you press that corresponding key it selects that option. In my case pressing the windows key and U and U again my pc will shutdown.

So try both changing usb ports and another mouse a basic cheap wired one is more than fine you may have a spare from an old PC.
