most beneficial credit card? (dont care about interest!)

Hi, I'm currently a user of capital ones credit card (just recently they upgraded me to "premiere" status with £800 credit limit), well i'v got a reasonable credit history, I say reasonable because i'm only 20 and although i'v never missed any payments and always paid in full on time I'v only had a credit card for about 9 months however I was thinking this should be sufficent.

I want to apply for a new credit card, I just wanted to ask mse'ers if they know of any which provide good purchase protection, e.g. I was speaking to someone and Iirc were telling me that they get free 1 year accidental damage cover on all items they purchase using the card, benefits like this would be ideal for me as my purchases are mainly electrical!, not fussed about cashback etc as my annual spend is less then 3k (student!), if there are not many of these cards about then I guess i'll just get a card which is compatible with microsoft money as capital one doesnt support it at all.
I'm not worried about interest rates at all as I only spend what I have + i use direct debit to pay off in full every month.
havent applied for anything involving a credit history check since my cap one card so I'm thinking it should be ok, we'll see I guess!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

If you are after purchase protection Nationwide might be a good bet for you. Has the added advantage of being very good value when used overseas: No exchange rate loading.

If you do decide you want a card that pays you, the new Egg Money card is good. The other alternative are American express cards, although they are not universally accepted.

However, as a student you may have difficulty getting any sort of credit card until you have a full time job. You may be stuck with your Capital One card or something you can get from your current bank.

If your parents trust you though, you could get a second card on an account they set up?

    Good luck though.

  • Thanks, Nationwide does look pretty good, I just cant remember who this lady mentioned that gave her protection for a year or something, it sounded excellant.

I seem to recall MBNA Credit Card offered free accidental damage on purchases using the card but not sure how long for.

after doing lots of searching I think nationwide is probably the best as it gives you cover on most things over £50, sounds ideal, I might just apply today, actually I'll apply tomorow just incase someone replies and suggests a better card!
    Thx for the replies :)
  • Got declined :(
Guess I will have to look for another one or just stick to capital one for time being.
Applied to experien and equifax for my credit reports, just out of curiousity
