Help with Orange PAYG upgrade
I have an old Orange phone under PAYG. The plan is actually an OVP plan matched to the Virgin Tariff with end of the month billing by direct debit.
I use the phone very little with the average monthly bill being less than £3!
When I rang Orange to find out about buying a new phone they said I could not do it and would have to take out a new PAYG phone under the Organe tariff.
Does anyone know the answer to: If I buy a new Orange phone on an Organge PAYG scheme can I just swap my sim card from my old phone (about 4 years old) and stay on my old tariff, or will the sim not work.
Many thanks

swapping the sims should be no problem as long as it is an orange phone, or unlocked to any network0

I'm on the same contract with orange and I got myself a new phone last year. I had no problems till recently when i started getting corrupt text messages I spoke to customer services and it's all sorted. They wanted to know the serial number of my phone which told them it wasn't actually the phone they thought I was using but that didn't seem to matter.
Whats OVP?0 -

I bought a new unlocked phone last year and put in my OVP Virgin SIM. No problems. I rang Orange CS to enabled GPRS and MMS (photo messaging). Everything works just fine.kai666 wrote:swapping the sims should be no problem as long as it is an orange phone, or unlocked to any network
I would think about changing from this tariff. From what you say you don't use it that much, which is one reason to stay on it. It's far better than Orange's PAYG. The PAYG price list is here.
I notice they've changed it all yet again; there's just one tariff, 15p/min at all times to Orange and landlines and 35p/min to other networks.0 -
I can confirm that it does work - I don't know if all the features are availble but I registered the phone with the new SIM with Orange and then switched to the old SIM on the Virign plan. All works great and it's a lot cheaper too!0

Definitely keep this Virgin OVP tariff - you can't get it anymore and it is great for low-usage users.
If you ever decide to go for another tariff in the future, never cancel this "contract", there is no need to as your bills will be £0 if you don't use it. Once you've cancelled Virgin OVP you can never get back on it.0 -
Totally agree - no plans to move, that was a key requirement. Even better value as we use the Orange Wednesday promotion at least twice a month and save over £12, whilst only making about £4 worth of calls!!!charlie12 wrote:Definitely keep this Virgin OVP tariff - you can't get it anymore and it is great for low-usage users.
