Hi,
I've heard some stories that some companies do NOT alter the amount taken by DD even if you paid the balance off in full (eg. by debit card) with enough advance notice. Is this true? If so which companies do this?
I know Capital One will alter the amount automatically (as long as there's 7 days between payment date and the DD date) but what about others such as Barclaycard, MBNA, Post Office, Goldfish etc etc?
Any answers or experiences to share or be aware of?
Update
Capital One
Egg
Nationwide
Post Office
Barclaycard
Goldfish
Abbey
Don't Update (eg. will take the payment anyway)
Mint (RBS)
Ulster (RBS)
Alliance & Leicester (MBNA)
Virgin (MBNA)
Halifax (HBOS)
First Direct

Someone else started a thread a while ago, asking this very same question...but I can't find it now.
As people report, would you update your OP to give two lists? It might then be easier to follow.0 -
Thanks for the reply, I did a search too but could nay find anything.
Just found my paper workl for Alliance & Leicester card & Virgin money (both MBNA) and they do NOT.
The Barclaycard paperwork does not say but their online servicing lets you change between minimum and full payment "on the fly" by ticking either box.
I have started the list as above.Best Regards,

Halifax don't adjust the DD value.
I would assume this applies to all HBOS issued cards - but couldn't say for sure.

Why would you want to pay your card balance off by debit card when you know that the D/D will taken anyway?0

Because your 0% deal is often up on the anniversary date NOT your statement date so you may need to pay the balance off early in your final month.Best Regards,

Nationwide will amend the amount of the DD to reflect any payments made to your account and received by them approx 3 days before due date.0
