Default Magazine offers - 3 for £1, free gifts etc IIII

The following note is from Martin:

Now I'll probably be struck out of the NUJ for writing this. However magazines use a host of marketing tricks to get us to sign up, and often stay subscribed even if we're not reading their magazines.

Yet active MoneySavers can use this to their advantage. There are lots of different types of deals, but most effectively say "sign up by direct debit" and we'll give you three or six mags for free (or for £1). Sometimes you may get a free gift too.

Their aim

Their aim is you forget to cancel the DD whether you like the mag or not, after all a subscribers a subscriber.

MoneySavers aim

Sign up. Read the mag. Cancel the direct debit at the end of the trial and possibly sign up for another trial with the same magazine all over again. Of course we shouldn't kill the magazine industry. Don't repeat this too often. if you are a loyal follower then get your subscription - it's always substantially cheaper than buying it again and again in a newsagents anyway.

More about the list below

Below is a categorised list of magazines with these type of offers, based on information provided from MoneySavers. It's sectioned into subject categories and sub-sectioned into offer types. Of course offers change, so do check the terms and conditions before you sign up.

Please continue to post your magazine spots and periodically (forgive the pun) we'll update this list

The New Woman subscription says "while stocks last", so no guarantee of the free gift.

They almost always say that

The mag with the offer in it, is just out, so you should get it if you don't wait too long.

I think they just say that to cover themselves against unexpected surges in orders.

Default Cordless Mouse For £1

Computeractive have sent me a mailshot with this offer. Subscribe to Computeractive by direct debit and you get the first three issues for £1. In addition, you'll get a free Trust Ami 250S Cordless Mouse (RRP allegedly £9.99). So if you cancel after the first direct debit is drawn, you'll get the mouse and 3 issues for just £1.

You can subscribe online at: www.subscription.co.uk/ca

Quote source code: 4013. Then select "Offer 720 Direct Debit" from the drop-down menu next to "Subscription Term".

Just remember to cancel the DD before the next one is drawn - it's £11.50 every 6 months. Even if you do get caught out, if you cancel under their guarantee, they'll refund the cost of unmailed issues.

(You can also subscribe via the hotline on 0870 830 4968).

It's this one:

Control your computer from a distance of 2 metres
Programmable button for special functions
Scroll wheel and datazoom function
Right and left handed, designed to fit perfectly in your hand

What have I done wrong?

You should be OK, based on my experience. I applied on the 5th September in the manner described above and my mouse arrived yesterday.

Woohoo!!! I've just had my St Ives gift from Zest!!! I'd almost given up on it (subscribed July I think) but this was my second subscription in less than a year and everyone else was having problems with it so I wasn't very hopeful. But what do you know, it just turned up and it's great! 2 enormous bottles of lotion, a huge one of shower gel, facial scrub, face cream, wipes and a puff.

I think i'll just have a wee break from ordering so ban me from this section plzzzzzzzzzzzzz its too tempting lol

I was refused harpers and queen for free perfume (poss too posh and they dont think i'm high class enuff lol) but did manage to get the body butter freebies so maybe it just depends on the publisher?

Still i've got enough shampoo and shower gel to last most of the year so i cant complain
