Having problems sending Picture Messages

I can receive them, just when I send them, they go ok but the recipient can't open them. They receive a grey envelope and it just says download content error.
The phone is a Nokia 6500 classic, and I have recently moved my number from Virgin to T-Mobile. Is there something easy I can check? I am sending the pics to a SE K550i on O2.
Thanks

It is so frustrating!0 -
Is the 6500 a T-Mobile handset ? If not it won't have the setting for mms in it. If you call them they can send you a txt with the right info that'll install it's self.
Also, you might be able to get the same info sent from the Nokia website, they used to offer it for all their phone for just about every network in the world...0 -

Thanks Jon, I have already done this and can send them to other people no probs and can receive them myself. It is the SE K550 on O2 that can't open them. Also have a pal on Tmobile, the K550i can't open theirs either.
Puzzling!0 -
Could be a compatibility issue. When I worked on the 'front line' some years ago there was the same problem when a new handset came out. Almost all other phone could pickup mms from it, but there were 1 or 2 that couldn't.... It was fixed (I can't remember how, it may have been a patch on the network ?).
Try getting your friends to send you back the mms they can't open, you'll see then if it's corrupt or not...0 -
Thanks, how do they send it back, there isn't an option to do so. O2 have sent a new Sim card, but the problem still exists.
Really appreciate your help, it is just really frustrating.
I also noticed that when I sent a pic mess to a SE K800, the same grey envelope problem appeared, but a second later 2 gobbledegook texts came through, then they could open it. Strange

what are you trying to send?
have you tried sending that MMS to yourself to see if you can receive it?
sounds like an incompatibility issue.
can you confirm you're not sending this via Bluetooth? (you are actually sending via MMS - therefore chargeable as a network service)
Often if the clip is a video clip, the receiving phone may not be able to read the content format, or the sim may not be provisioned with the video-messaging service.
If the content is DRM (digitally rights managed, ie - protected material such as a song download or picture) this will also not allow the file to be opened.
what happens when you send a different photo? what size/resolution is the content you are sending? have you tried sending an MMS without an image attachment to see if that comes through (messages, create, new, Multimedia, insert text only, send - same error?)
the more info the better. if it's not here that you answer it, it'll probably be to the network so they can investigate it!

Yes I have tried sending it to myself and yes I can receive it
I am not sending this via Bluetooth, definitely via MMS (bluetooth works fine though!)
It is a photo taken with the camera, it was 255kb and it scaled down to 40kb
No it is not DRM
Tried sending a MMS text only, same problem. I presume it is O2 that has the problem, as it leaves Tmobile fine.
Thanks

Should just be a matter of selecting the mms in the inbox and forwarding it back to your number. But by the sound of it, it's a compatibility issue. These normally only get fixed after so many people have complained that the operator can't ignore it any more !!0
