hi i am with tiscali, been with them for 8 years, i am happy at the moment with them or i would not be with them still, some people say they have problems but i think you will find that with them all, good and bad,
tiscali are doing the free line rental with broadband £14.99 but does not come to my area till end of april
was looking at talk-talk as well , as they do free line rental, but they also get bad reviews, so its a case of just what other people tell you, but at the moment i am looking for which ever gives free line rental included, save some money.0 -
Find for yourself
Call them on the 9p/m 0871 customer service number and try to ask them if you can still use prefix like 18185 if you have line rental with them.
You will need nerves of steel not to shout on the Indian agent on the other side that sound like he is using some script for all his answers.
And yes it does take minimum of 10 minutes to speak to anyone when it's not busy , dare you try to call them after 16.00 you might as well drop 10p coins to a jar and flush it down the loo.:rotfl:
Save yourself the hassle , I know as I am a client of Tiscali and they just bump up their charges to 1.5p/minute for regular evening calls and 4p/minute at daytime. What you are going to save from your line rental you are going to spend on telephone calls, so in my view it is pointless.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

£45/month saving?were with tiscali-swapped about 6 months ago. so far all good and saves us a bomb -over £45 a month compared to BT X
With BT line rental being £10.50/month, that seems unlikely. Are you sure you don't mean £45/quarter?
Anyway, those savings are about to diminish - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=830819Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Line Rental is not free you pay for it in your respective llu bundle.Dont forget to add the £30 connection fee,to get the true cost. Also if your on one the llu bundle deals they charge extra for voicemail and caller display.
So on the £14.99 monthly bundle your actually be paying
£14.99p + £2.50p( connection charge averaged out other year) + 0.98p for voicemail /caller display = £18.47p
Add to that the expensive peak/evening call charges from 1/5/2008 ,dear 0845/0870 charges, expensive and rage inducing customer service calls, and the fact that you cant use indirect access services like 1899/18185. Nor can you use the BT override facility 1280 facility to place calls via BT when cheaper, or in an emergency.0 -
we had tiscali and were fine until we had a problem, then you get someone with a thick indian accent telling you to do things you've already done over and over again, and then saying they can't understand as it should work and there is nothing more they can think of
then should you try and leave they dont process the request when you ask them to and it ends up taking AGES
im sure there are lots of people who have had good experiences, what you need to ask is are you willing to take the chance of being a lucky one or not.
this is from a post i made on 24/01/07
As everyone else has said, STAY AWAY, I was with Tiscali but had loads of problems with the service so decided to cancel on 30th nov 06, but knowing past problems i rang 1wk later to check it had been processed, and guess what, it hadnt, they had managed to cancel my email access but nothing else, they finally got round to removing the markers from the line early jan, when i rang to find out where my final bill was they said "we sent it to you" I said "did you happen to email it to me through the tiscali email adress?", "yes of course we did", "and the fact that i have cancelled my account and have no access to my email wasn't a problem?" "ah, yes i can see that may be a problem" YOU DONT SAY!!! then i found out that they had cancelled the bband but not the call packages, grrrrrrr. Think it has all been sorted, just waiting for Virgin to connect us, so glad to be away from them.0 -
i know you say they have bump up there call charges, but so have bt and others,
wouldnt free line rental still work out cheaper and with free calls at weekend or £19.99 free anytime calls wont it will save money? as i pay £14.99 for broadband and then i pay line rental and calls with another provider?
if there are any better deals i would be interested to hear
thanks0 -
