Sadly some nasty little criminals, may have started using my name and the site’s in scam sales calls. We NEVER call anyone offering to save you money.

If you get a call don’t believe them. Even better, play along and try and get a number/address to get in touch with them and that’d be great.

Please report below if this has happened to you.

Thanks

Martin

  • I got one of these calls two or three weeks ago. The caller said she was from moneysaving expert and asked if I had a mortgage. We're signed up to the Telephone Preference Service so I always ask cold callers for the address and phone number of their company. Strangely enough:rolleyes:, this seemed to put the caller off, as she said goodbye and hung up on me!

    Hi,

I am receiving automated Telephone messages that ask if I've seen "the latest on TV" it doesn't actully say MSE, but goes on to ask if I have any bank charges to press 2. I just deleted it.

Bizarre, but I got a different scam to my mobile the same day!

There is a company called The Money Savings Expert, could they be the ones making the call. We saw the ad on TV an thought it was for this site. I think they are just using the name to get business as people think it is this site.

The best thing to do if you are at all suspicious is just say no, better to look back happy than with regret.

Also be sensible and don't give details out over the phone obviously.

Do you still have a copy of the email? I would like to see it :) and see if we can take legal action (though i suspect its off shore and untraceable, others i've seen have been)

My son had a call from someone today, who said he was from Martin Lewis, and he wanted to send out a pack so we could reclaim bank charges. He had ALL my son's bank card details - read them out to him- and his address etc. The minute I heard that, I was suspicious (thanks to the email from you last night!) and we called the bank and cancelled his card. Thanks Martin!

    Hi folks

Moneyexpert is a legitimate website; frustratingly the web address was registered before this site; though it started running much later.

Its a mid-sized comparison site. And whilst I wish it didnt exist because its name is similar. I dont believe it would ever attempt to pass itself off as this site.

    On the other hand
