Egg Savings rate reduced to 5.00%

Options
Looks like Egg don't match the base rate anymore as just received an email to say that they are reducing there interest rate from 5.50% to 5.00% from 11th Feb.

  • You just beat me to it :-)

I thought it was some kind of tracker account though (I can't find the old terms) .
  • I think (if my memory is correct) they said they would at least match the base rate until Dec 2007.

Quite frankly that's an awful savings rate and people should be flooding out of Egg for that...

I feel a letter of complaint coming on as I have an Egg savings account.
One way and another this institution is doing a jolly fine job of upsetting its customers.

Don't complain, take your money elsewhere. That'll hit them a lot harder.

Why would people be there in the first place, when so many better paying accounts exist?

    :T I was thinking same thing. ;)
  • Tried to call Egg today as my internet was down to close my accounts---spent over an hour trying to get through with no luck. Got home and just closed accounts--apparently many people are "scrambling" to get away from Egg.

Well done Egg that's 6 savings accounts and 4 credit cards closed today--and thats just from my family--2 more cards will close when we have our cash back paid.

I bet the workers are wishing that RBS had taken them over and not their American owners!
