Can anyone help? (Telewest Broadband)

I've got my phone and TV with Telewest. I've just bought a new computer and decided to switch to broadband. Having looked into the options, it appears I'll have to stick to Telewest in order to get broadband. Although I'm not averse to doing so, it looks like it could be a pain in the future.
Telewest will install it but rather than treat it as an upgrade or new deal they agree to it as a separate contract. So, at present, my phone and TV runs until January and the broadband will run 'til next June. I've asked why they can't just run it concurrently but it falls on deaf ears.
Can anyone suggest a bargaining tool, other than just threatening to leave? Obviously I could stick with dial- up until January and quit the phone contract and get a deal elsewhere but I'm not keen.

Telewest broadband service is very very reliable, it is a good service, just not quite value for money as some others, but you do get good service.
With cable broadband it is separate to your phone line unlike ADSL, this means you don't need a phone line for cable broadband.
I don't think you are going to get Telewest to change their minds on the 12 month contract, as it is a new service and not an upgrade.
It is just a shame their telephone and TV service is poor value, though you could get a phone line from BT, satellite TV but keep Telewest for broadband.
You could also if you wished drop the phone line and use VoIP via the broadband service, though dropping the phone line may increase the cost of your digital TV package. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I agree with Bextech.
Telewest do a reliable broadband compared to so many others I've seen. You wont get them to budge on the 12month minimum term.
We've had telewest tv, phone & bb for years. We now use BT for the landline to take advantage of Call18866 and so many other cheaper providers. They did *try* and charge us more for our tv when we switched phone to BT but we threatened to leave because Sky do it cheaper and they now price match Sky including the extra box which is normally £15 they are pricematching Sky's £10.
I've kept our bb with telewest because I very, very rarely have problems with internet. They've had problems with emails in the past but after a major uprade to their email platform, it's been ok since.
To be honest, 12month minimum term is standard with regards to bb (and most other things). There are companies doing bb without 12months but they normally insist you pay about £60 ADSL upgrade fee (required on BT lines) and then your ADSL modem and filters.
In fact, telewest are doing a special offer of £14.99 (normally £17.99) for the first year providing you haven't had broadband with them before.
More info see here. The t&c of the offer are here.
I personally would recommend them for broadband. Especially at £14.99 for the first 12months.
NOTE THIS IS A WEB ONLY OFFER IT SAYS. NORMAL PRICES APPLY IF ORDERING VIA PHONE. I'D THEREFORE RECOMMEND ORDERING VIA THE WEB0
