On the application form, it states "Family Regular Saver is only available to applicants with dependent children" but no where on the form does it ask you for proof of dependent children.

but that requires you to have their 1st Account and either pay £1500/month into that or be charged £10/month

Well First Direct is not a brand new Regular Saver, that's why I posted the N&P Family Saver, as it is hot off the presses.

However, I have just rung them to check who I should make the cheque out to, I presumed it was to my self, which indeed is correct. Whilst on the line, the guy told me that in fact the website will be updated, and you will have to send in proof of children's existence, i.e. photocopies of children's birth certificates.

Thanks Mary, I will send them a photocopy of my baby daughters HK birth certficate and british passport.

I see they also require ID from existing customers, I wonder if they will accept uncertified copies of passports?

To answer my own question passports/driving licenses have to be certified.

However, if you're an existing customer and you've recently transacted on your account, then no further ID is required apart from the documents required to confirm existence of a dependent child.

"Banking with first direct usually costs £10 a month, but it's free when you pay in at least £1,500 to your 1st Account each month, hold a selected first direct additional product, or maintain an average monthly 1st Account balance of £1,500."

But how do we know which are the "selected" products ?

(sorry to OP for being off-topic)

"a first direct mortgage, credit card, personal loan, savings account (* excluding Regular Saver Account), first directory, or first direct car or home insurance policy; "

I opened an 'everyday E saver' and just put a few quid in it, no charge then on the first account. Then just send only your monthly amount to the first account.
