I would ring them back, tell them to look up the originators ID, 6 digit number that will be within the DD details on your account.

It will give you the company name, parent company, named contact, address and telephone number.

You got a lazy or incorrectly trained advisor.

  • Doesn't really say much about the OP who has not noticed it for the last 15 months.
Yes I would concur that it is probably something to do with the Link and mobile phone insurance.

ejones, checked a lot of your posts on here, why is it almost all your posts are critical in some part. feel free to check yourself, it may be something you have not noticed previously. this is constructive criticism, by the way.;)
  • Your point?
How can anyone say that they have not noticed something on their statement for 15 months?

I reckon its mobile phone insurance too. The same thing happened with me. It took a few months for me to notice it coming off as it was a small sum, but when i did i just cancelled it through my online banking. I wasn't a mse convert then, so didn't bother trying to get any money back though. D'oh!

The exact same thing's happening to me. It stopped for a few months (as The Link went out of business) but its come back. Its definitively The Link phone insurance, which I really don't recommend by the way as you have to pay the first £25... and more.

LEt me know how you get it to stop if you can please.

    Cheers pal

Simple. You log onto your bank OR phone them OR go to a branch and cancel it

He said it "keeps coming back".

As it states on direct debit mandates, you should also write to the organisation concerned telling them when you cancel it.

If it comes back after you have cancelled it, you are perfectly within your rights to claim any money they take back under the DD guarantee.
