To me it seems like the p&p is excessive, and I've sent the powerseller a link to this topic. The actual cost of posting the item is less than 99p, especially when it's being sent second class.
Also if you do report it would it be under the following at this page
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_us/_base/index.html
1) Report a listing policy violation
2) Listing policy violation
3) Avoided eBay fees (HIGH SHIPPING COSTS)
Like I said I'm undecided on what to do, just that I don't like having to pay more for p&p than the actual auction price.

Sorry but I cant help but ask what exactly has the person done wrong? They have disclosed the cost (or money they wish to recieve) for posting. Surely the postal costs are at the discretion of the person selling the item, and can include anything linked to the act of posting, ie cost of buying the wrapping, getting to the post office whatever!
So there are no hidden costs, surely its up to you if you want to bid on the item or not? And as the money they want for postage is there in black and white, Im pretty sure that everyone will add the cost of the postage to their bid they want to give work out the total cost, and take that into account prior to bidding0 -
If you think p&p on that item is excessive take a look at this one. He even admits to avoiding fees

Blatant or what...... but then again eBay seem not to have been informed......until now.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

I think you're missing my point, sure the p&p is clearly advertised, but it is still overpriced compared to the actual cost. I think that the seller is aiming to profit from the p&p whilst keeping the final valuation fee low by selling at a reduced price, which is a way of working the ebay system.
Could someone in the know please work out the difference in ebay fees if the BIN price was £1.99 with the p&p being reduced to a more realistic, but still excessive £2.49. Assume that the listing will be for 100 items.0 -
SHUGSTER have you got a life ... sorry to be blunt but there are fraudsters / !!!!!! peddlers and child abusers using ebay
report them
the postage price is clear ... he may box the item seal it and pack it then drive 10 miles to his nearest post office for all we know
jesus ..... the ebay police really annoy me
multi billion pound un-caring company who are almost impossible to contact and wouldnt give a toss if you were ripped off on their site and your worried about their profits .0 -

Fair enough, but still I cant quite understand why it worries you, as presumably a potential buyer?
Surely this is more of a matter for paid Ebay staff to find and resolve if they feel necessary! Ebay are very clever at making 3rd parties police their own system.
Everybody tries to work numerous systems, legally and to benefit themselves (the majority of this site is about doing exactly that) and in my opinion good for them if they find a way. Think about it, even the biggest system of our society ie: the tax system can be re-worked to allow people to legally pay less tax. And if that didnt exist, nor would accountants!!
Overpriced or not, I really don't understand why you are so concerned to have researched into the cost of posting, posted on here etc.
I personally do not use Ebay, but from what I have heard on here there are far more devious and harmful things (for example all the people trying to sell boxes for Xbox or links to sites) occuring on Ebay than someone overpricing the postage by £1 or £2!0 -
wesker ..... i have to agree with that one ... totally blatant , but until ebay start to at least show some care to their users and get a bl**dy phone , then im afraid im on his side ........ the buyer knows the truth (if hes got a brain) the seller knows what he is doing ... ie working around excessive costs ....
well done for reporting him though criminal smile ... must have made your day .0 -

Was typing a simular ilk at the same time!!! I'm glad Im not the only one who thought this was slightly extreme!0 -
I've mentioned this in a previous thread but I wouldn't buy goods from someone charging 1p on BIN with inflated postage.
Not because of the fees avoidance (fair play Ebay is too greedy) but because youre legal standing if the goods turn out to be faulty.
The seller is only obliged to refund the cost paid not the postage.
Unscrupulous sellers can purposely palm off faulty goods this way.
Bear that in mind.0
