Tiscali Are Great, Until You Want To Leave Them!!

I was once a happy Tiscali customer. Then Martin did a cheapest broardband comparison. I decided to change, as I was paying £19.99 per month.
In early March 2005 I cantacted tiscali and told them I wished to cancel.. They conned me by informing me that I could have my line upgraded from 512 to 1mg free at a new monthly cost of £15.99. I agreed to this. IT NEVER HAPPENED!
On 20/4/05 I contacted them again to cancel. I was offered the above again. I told them no and cancelled my contract (as the 12months min had elapsed). I was told that my line would be free in 28 days. IT NEVER HAPPENED!
I contacted them again in May and was told that the line would be release by 8/6/05. IT NEVER HAPPENED!
On 9/6/05 I contacted them again and was assured that my line would be release by 19/6/05. Guess what? IT NEVER HAPPENED!
Tried to contact them this morning but the cancellation department does not work on a Sunday.
Can anyone tell me what I should do next. is it worth complaining to B.T., or someone? Is their an ombudsman for internet connections etc.?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see from this link Tiscali is one of the most complained about ISP`s on the planet.
You seem to be pretty good with the dates and times and what you have done to try to cancel.
The people you need to contact is Ofcom,I think you can still do it by email,info on their site.
No doubt someone will post and say Ofcom are a bunch of **********`s but I complained about a certain ISP who would not cancel my account and kept taking my money (without my permission),kept me in a 0870 queue for ages and when finally got to speak to a "human" told me a pack of lies and promised everything would be sorted.
Well it never happened.
Not `til Ofcom caught up with them,then the boot was on the other foot with the ISP constantly phoning me to settle matters and refunding the money they took, plus a bit extra.
Report them to Ofcom.0 -
It has just taken Tiscali 84 days to get my line provisioned after moving house. I had the same run around with lies, false promises but no genuine information or explanation. Complaint procedure is on their website under terms and conditions ending with the independant ombudsman, Otelo.0

Ive just come out of six months of apalling service from Tiscali after they broke my broadband during an "upgrade". Their customer services is absolutely apalling....most of the time not responding to you and not escalating the problem to Technical Support.
I followed Tiscali's complaints process, but true to form, they didnt even respond to my complaints.
I took the case to the Ombudsman, Otelo, and their provisional findings find in my favour. Have had months of rubbish service refunded, plus compensation to be paid to me by Tiscali.

Well done Froggitt for giving them "a bloody nose" and getting some recompense and compo.
Trouble is they know that you are only a "one in a million" that will report them and take action.
That`s why they can give appalling service and get away with it because most people don`t bother.0 -
Well it is the 9/8/05 and I am still waiting for Tiscali to release my line.
I have complained to OTEL who tell me there is nothing they can do for 12 weeks (from 29/6/05), which is the date Tiscali told them I first complained.
Which is not ture!
So it appears I am on dialup with Virgin, (who have been great to date) until at least 13/9/05, when Otelo may well take up my plight.
I am now considering writing to my M.P., but I suppose i'd get no joy there, but it's probably worth a try.Lic.0
