Neighbours putting their Christmas rubbish boxes on top of my car

What would you do if neighbours put their christmas rubbish boxes on top of your car? They were definitely doing this maliciously and seemed to find it amusing. I think they were doing this while dumping their rubbish on a favourite dumping ground in the local area.

When went out and challenged them whilst in the act and picked up the rubbish off my car and threw it in their garden they started getting all aggressive towards me.

After being aggressive for a while and my 5 brothers will kick your head in or whatever, they were then like "it didn't harm anything and it was a laugh", they then said "sorry for putting boxes on your car I don't want you to talk to me again", then it was them threatening to put more stuff on the car like it amused them.

Really annoyed

As you can guess this guy is probably a druggie and could probably never afford lessons never mind a car. That may well be presumptuous etc etc and wrong of me to say but chances are it's true.

Suppose if anything happens to the car it's pretty much guaranteed to be them now?!

Why does there have to be so many people f****d up in the head like that in this world?!

  • I'd have waited till they'd gone & dumped it all in their garden plus everything of my own as well, & you can safely bet your car will now be a target.

Well they'd have realised who it was dumping it back in their garden (although saying that and thinking retrospectively, they're so messed up in the head perhaps they wouldn't) - so could have been a target all the same.

I really didn't want to let the idiots get away with finding doing things like this to my property amusing.

Being presumtuous again, they probably are jealous they can't afford a car or lessons, or that they don't have enough brains to pass the tests. Still it's my car that's targetted and I get the impression they find it amusing because it's *my* car. I wonder what their visitors with the nice brand new Vauxhall MPV would think if I put the rubbish on top of their car.

Too true I'm afraid, have you thought about CCTV pointing at the car? or is the car out on the road?

They'd find it more amusing if you hadn't been out to them & they thought they'd got away with it. Just be careful in future eh? I don't want to read about you being in hospital or worse because of these bozos.

I have thought about it but it would cost money, and it seems all the more a good idea now. The car is out on the road but I could get a good angle on the car from the house. Would like one of those standalone recording units that records when anything moves but they would be expensive. I know there's things I could do with my PC but I would need a very long cable and I don't leave it on all the time.

My guess is if anything does happen to the car the police wouldn't be interested anyway and would give me a crime number like it's a lottery ticket and tell me to contact my insurance company  who wouldn't pay anything anyway unless it was covered by the windscreen policy and then there'd be the excess to pay.

    Digital Video Recorder System

Digital Video Recorders, or DVRs, allow continous digital cctv recording for days and weeks at a time. Unlike tape based systems the footage from digital video recorders is always high quality no matter how many times you record over existing footage. Digital video recorders also have built in multiplexing allowing split screen monitoring/recording without having to have an additional unit.

    Features -
    High quality colour video recording/playback.
    4 Channel Recorder
    Built in removable HDD rack
    Camera/sensor input
Time scheduled record / Sensor triggered record / Motion triggered record
    1 x ATA - 100 HDD interface
4 channel BNC camera input & 4 sets NO/NC sensor input
2 Channel BNC monitor / VCR output & 1 alarm output
Recording and compressing video signal realtime
With motion detection & video loss alarm function
    IR remote

Just need one decent quality camera to go with it.

Is a camera the only way I can legally deter them? Am I not allowed to protect my property with some sort of force?

I'd use our old friend Mr A.I.R. Rifle  :D

Seriously though, I think CCTV is probably the best way but as you mentioned, make sure it's a good resolution and can identify someone standing by your car - it'd be really annoying if you caught them in the act but couldn't prove it was them.

We were here first. Unfortunately it seems worse scum replaced the previous scum who moved out after armed police surrounded the house. Apparently one of the occupants at the time claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot and the armed police took it serious.
