Hi All,
I know this is not a SBDD but this is really important. 3 weeks ago I confirmed my Tesco order and had a fresh turkey crown in my shopping basket, yesterday I went in to add some more bits and after a while I realised that the turkey was not there anymore. I looked for it again to add another and there are no fresh or frozen turkeys available.
So, I called Tesco and said 'my turkey is not there and I can't find them online'. They THEN told me (reading from a Memo she had been given) that they had a problem with their turkeys and they were not going to be available. I asked why I was not told and she told me that I should have been emailed and called but as of yet I've had neither and my delivery is scheduled for tomorrow - 20th - and I would have been left with no Turkey.
They also told me that on the memo it stated that some people were calling to say that their Fresh turkey was not showing in their shopping basket but not to worry as they WOULD get a turkey.
So, it seems to be something of a lottery as to whether your turkey from Tesco will arrive and you won;t know until it arrives on your doorstep. I've stuck a chicken in my basket to ensure I get something as this is all that is left.
The lady on the phone told me that the best way to ensure I got a Turkey was to - wait for it - go into store and get one!!!!!
So I might as well have not bothered booking the delivery and going into town to shop anyway - the fresh turkeys are not available until 20th December instore!!!!!!!!
Please can you ensure that anyone that might have ordered a fresh turkey on there online Tesco Home Delivery Order is aware of this problem. I am going to post this on the Tesco threads too so please don't shoot my down for spamming but I did think it important that everyone was aware of this problem because Tesco certainly did not tell me that my turkey was no longer available and if you have your delivery scheduled for Xmas Eve you'll be left with no food!!
I am going to turn the chicken away if the turkey arrives so everyone else should do the same as they can;t tell you if you'll get it on the phone but mine is not showing on my order either this or their end.

this happened to me last year and I thought Tesco's attitude was poor, to say the least. They really don't care.
I don't rely on anything I need for Christmas from my Tesco delivery - I brave M&S and stock up the freezer then get bread, cheese, pop, toilet rolls etc from Tesco.
With my vouchers from Barclaycard (OH and I both took out the offer posted here a few weeks ago for £50 M&S vouchers each) plus £100 &More loyalty vouchers, my whole Christmas shop came to £2.97! Wow!0 -
I have a agree, after a shamble with a Christmas Delivery a couple of years ago. I would never rely on them again. Now I book everything I need that doesn't have a short use by date weeks before and then shop in store for the extras.
I don't know if it's changed but a couple of years ago you were limited to 2 bottles of Pepsi, lemonade etc each. They put on extra deliveries but didn't have extra refrigerated vans so couldn't legally?? send out any frozen foods. We had our delivery changed from one day to the next and then that was several hours late. Never again!Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
the did similar to me a few years back - the delivery arrived but instead of my nice organic free range £30-£40 top of the range one it had been substituted with a frozen one - this was christmas eve. on top of that half my order was missing!
so I rang and complained ALL I GOT WAS EXCUSES!!! We're very busy at this time of year.... I had to moan and moan just to get the £5 delivery charge refunded. and then shoot over to my not so local tesco and pray they still had some decent turkeys in stock.0 -

Yes, I just got one from Sainsbury!! The thing is, why offer them and them remove them out of the basket without telling you (not just me it seems)? The point of having home delivery is because you don't want/can't get to the shops. I don't go to the supermarket or go to town as my son hates crowds but today I've had to so on top of my delivery charge I've also had to pay for petrol to get another.
I would not mind so much but they are not telling anyone - which is pretty poor service by all accounts!!0 -
Yep just checked and my Turkey is missing. A similar thing happened last year where everytime you logged on the Turkey doubled in price.
I'm going to give them a ring in a minute to find out what there playing at.0 -
Just got off the phone and they said its because they have been removed from the site so people can't place any more orders for them but if you already had a turkey before they did this then they will still be delivering it. The lady on the phone checked my order and said it was still showing as ordered.
Its probably to stop the price doubling bug happening again although they have had a year to come up with a better solution.
EDIT: I have just checked again and it is infact still showing in my basket online but it doesn't show on the main page after you log in. It only shows down the side as you are doing the shopping.0 -
Half price in my Tesco Aberdeen last night (frozen)0

I honestly don't know why people continue to shop with Tesco (unless of course it's the only store in your area)
They are such an institutionally arrogant organisation, their prices creep up week on week-for every 1 price they reduce at least 2 are increased (I know this as fact as I used to work for them maintaining pricing integrity), their customer service is abysmal, and they seem to be hellbent on taking over the country. There are so many Tesco stores in my local area that I have serious concerns about council palms being greased!
Why do people keep doing it to themselves? (this is meant as a serious question by the way)0 -

I only use Tesco's online service, I don't tend to use the actual shop that much. We haven't had any problems with it in the past but this Turkey issue seems to happen every year, I thought they would have sorted it by now.
I only use Tesco online because ASDA don't deliver in my area despite advertising in the local paper saying they do. As soon as they do which is meant to be next year I will be changing to ASDA as they are cheaper.
When I go to the actual shops I mainly use Morrisons and ASDA.0
