A&L drop transfer charge

Options
Good news for those of you who ignored all the moneysavers advice. A&L have dropped the £25 charge to transfer your ISA to another provider with immediate effect.
That's bad news for people like me who avoided this ISA because of the transfer charge given they have now closed this ISA to new investors.
But a new Online ISA is due next month... but will the interest rate be as good? I fear not...

    Excellent news.

Maybe Portman BS will now be shamed into dropping their charge? And pigs might fly?

Thanks for imparting the good news, but where did u get this info from. I can't seem to verify this on A+L's site. Thanks in advance for your reply.

It was in a couple of news stories around at the time - which Martin has subsequently verified by posting this information. Also, the charge was previously mentioned in the Tariffs for Additional Services leaflet, but it has now disappeared.
  • They have their cash ISA online now:

4.75%!!! think I'll go elsewhere... I currently have £9000 in First direct's 6.25% ISA which I will be transferring before it drops in October.... I'll look around and see where to put it but I don't think it will be with A+L...

Shame as I have my current account, savings and Mortgage with them as they are all very good... :-)

This statement has also been removed from the t+c's pdf file:
    New T+C's

"5.5 If You wish to transfer the funds in Your Account to an ISA at another financial institution,
an exit charge, as detailed in our Tariff for Additional Services, may be payable. This will
be withdrawn from the total balance on the Account unless You have already made a
payment through an alternative method that We have agreed."
