Barclaycard - Just received card need help?

Hi all,

Just received my Barclaycard after a succesful on line application.

They have given me a £6400 limit, however after calling today to activate my card it has already been closed by the collections dept? What - I only received it yesterday.

There is apparantly a note that the applications department want to ask me a few questions, any idea why this has happened and what they want to ask me?

Many thanks,
Matt

I wouldn't worru overly about it, just ring them and chat about it, perhaps you have another credit card you forgot to tell them about or something similar?

Sounds to me you have been economical with the truth. For Collections to do this they must have a very, very valid reason.
  • Thanks for the replies so far, I wasn't economical with the truth as I am fully aware that would be fraud - and if I was the credit check would have shown that I was not telling the truth?

Anyhow, I will speak to them on Monday, just seemed a little odd that's all, and I wondered if anyone else had come by this same situation.

    Thanks again.

A credit reference agency would not have your employers details and what your salary is but they have other ways obtaining this information.

If you have fabricated your salary believe me they will find out.

i have delt with barclaycard for 13 years, i contacted them with my new address 14 months back... in the 24 hours previously they rang my home phone number....odly i didn't answere..i was moving house at the time..my mum explained the situation..i contacted them 3 days later and ended up spending ages on thephone to the fraud protection dept as i had changed address... i had previously given them my mobile no: why not contact me on that under the cercamstansis??
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
  • I know it's OT/irritating/pedantic and you'll moan but... that was a truly horrible spelling of "circumstances".
  • Mable,

Thanks for your replies, on two occasions you have insinuated that I have been economical with the truth - most recently about my salary.

Please refrain from any further posts insinuating fraudulent activity on my part.

Mable, i really don't think jumping to conclusions is helping in this instance.

You have no idea whatsoever why the OP found himself in this situation & niether does he until he contacts the bank and asks them - end of.

So it wasn't just me then? LOL:rotfl:
  • It was a wonderful spelling though! At least we all knew what the word was supposed to be and that there were no extra apostrophes!

Perhaps a new thread should be for the 'best' bad spellings of the year.
It made me smile - and I'm not meaning to poke fun - it was just a fab phonetic spelling.

About the credit card, perhaps someone has skimmed your details and the bank wants to ensure you are who you say you are. It may be a precaution to protect you. We have to do a lot of that at work and the customer never sees it as a good, helpful thing; yet if fraudulent activity was happening and we took no action, the customer would not be happy then.
