Am trying to strengthen relationship between my fiance (of 1 yr) and son and think perhaps if we did something together at the weekends then they'd both get to know each other better. They don't not get on but I feel son does his thing in his room and we have a blether or watch tv in livingroom and we never seem to do much all together. They've played golf a few times over summer but its a long wait now until better weather. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Bowling is good for everyone- but perhaps get your Fiance a day out ATVing for his Christmas- and he can invite your son along too- we did this on holiday this year, and it's thrilling.
Or some other way to learn a new skill together- paintballing is probably out due to the competitive nature of it.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Why not ask the 14 yr old what HE would like to do - it will only be worth doing if he is willing to do something.0

Depends on whether you have an ice rink nearby, but when ours were that age we used to take them to watch our local ice hockey team on a Sunday evening. There's loads of families go and it's a great atmosphere.0

I have 13 year old and 16 year old sons. They don't like to do ANYTHING with parents within a 20 mile radius of wherever their friends might see them!......but drive them a few miles down the road and they enjoy bowling, Quasar type places, playing pool/snooker, museums (yes-really!! the scientific type and hands-on places, anyhow) and shopping if it's for stuff for themselves! Watching DVD's or sport together and ordering pizza. Ours also like doing Geocaching which is a kind of mix between a hike and a treasure hunt -needs a Garmin or similar GPS which you can get for about £40.0

sorry, is he your son or fiance's son? does the son play any games consoles? my hubby has two sons 14 and 12 - and they are video games daft. luckily hubby is games daft also and they all have a fab time playing xbox 360 + wii. youngest one loves playing monopoly & risk boardgames.
is your oh into any of the above, if not i'm sure the kids would teach him. does he like crafty stuff? perhaps they would both like warhammer ( build models and play strategy games) www.gamesworkshop.com:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090
