Currently need to buy a new washing machine but was wondering if there was anywhere were they rate washing machines to give an idea of best performers/value for money etc. Does anyone know any websites that test them?
Also, where can you find the best deals on the net for Washing Machines? From what I've seen so far, the 'brick and mortar' stores compete pretty well with the internet stores when it comes to Washing Machines.
All help greatly appreciated.

Personally I'm a Bosch fan. Always rate well in Which reviews etc. Also come with standard 2 year warranty which is worth about £50.
Always go for bottom end model. You only use about 4 programmes anyway. 2067 latest Classix About £270
Comparison sites can be set to rate by popularity, some even show customer reviews0 -
which.co.uk test home appliances including washing machines , unfortunately i have just cancelled my subscription - but you can get a free trial here , just don't forget to cancel
Tesco are not too bad for washing machines(emergency delivery 1-2 days)as are john lewis(3 year guarantee)

I went for a Miele because it always rates well in the "Which" trials, along with Bosch.
Have been very pleased with it and totally recommend it. I ordered it over the internet as none of my local stores could compete with internet prices at that time, I got it from the co-op electrical on-line store as they were selling it on special offer with a free extended warranty as well.

I would also highly recommend the "washerhelp" site loracan1 mentioned above, I have referred to if frequently in the past, for advice about my ailing machine and then when I wanted to buy a new one. http://www.washerhelp.com/0

Bosch would be the best one too they may have the simpliest programes but are the best and you will pay for what you will get.
There is a warning though, not many engineers recomend you to buy a washing machine with a speed any higher then a 1200 as any higher means a higher chance of the drum collasping (something like that.), and that 1000-1200 would be fine.
The latest inovation for W/M's are ones that have a LCD Panel, if these ever broke down, the replacment for another Panel will be costly.
Unfortunetely I Found this out when i bought my Zanussi, with the 1600mph and has the LCD Panel.(But i have been very careful, and determined to make it last!)
Hotpoints used to be ever so popular until they decided that they would buy cheaper parts from another place which also meant bad parts and loads of breakdowns. Now they are the most complained about; Doors hanging off, clothes chewed, floods, drums collapsing etc. Which is proberly why they are constantly on sale from the Highstreet.0 -
The Siemens 1200 washing machine is good but a bit more expensive, what swung it for us was the 5 year guarantee which I believe is now 10 years!

We just bought an lg machine with lots of flashing lights and bleeps reduced from £400ish to £249 in currys. Tis very quiet and has a childlock that stops the brat twiddling the knob and pushing the buttons when it's going. Unfortunately the only button it doesn't disable is the on off switch which cancels the program and it has to start again if he hits it. d'oh!0
