I don't have the letter yet, but I already don't like the sound of it.
The units have now been sold to SAV Credit, which provides services to consumers that are unable to get cards from the mainstream lenders.

It sounds like they have sold the accounts to a bunch of crooks trying to make money off people who really shouldn't be offered any means to get into bad debt. If the T&Cs changes is to match the T&Cs of the current credit cards on offer by SAV credit, the Aprs will rise sky high, and I don't think that those cards give the protections that the mainstream lenders usually offer with their cards.

Really, we should have been offered the option to close the account or move to an HSBC card before the sale. I am not happy about this.
I think it's time for me to pay off what I've got on the card and close the marbles account.

As i feared Spark , the cheeky sods sent us a BT offer only recently as well , isnt that a bit unethical ? (if we assume the worst) can they change APR`s on offers at the drop of a hat ?

I got the letter today, and it's not good enough.
I think they can change anything if and when they want to. The Aprs will go sky high at the first opportunity.
I think there should be a law preventing companies to sell accounts (and all the datas held about you)without the permission of the account holders or without at least give them other options.:naughty:
How on earth can we be efficient in preventing identity theft if any company can flog all informations they have on you to any other company without any care in the world?
Then when you are victim of identity theft you are the ones who needs to prove that someone else is pretending to be you?
I've never heard of SAV credit of aviemore before now. Who are they really?

I have paid the balance on the card yesterday and when my account will be showing 0.00 balance I will call them to cancel my account.
My card expires in march anyway, shame, that was the card I have used the most consistently since I have credit cards, as there wasn't many changes made since I got it (the APR gone up to 12.9% and stayed there for years, not bad). I'll miss that card........

Sav credit lend on the Aqua Credit Card typical apr 35.9% (I think Halifax run it for them)

Maybe they are trying to move into prime lending...sadly our T&C's say they can transfer the rights to anyone.

I doubt anyone will notice any change to be honest.

If you are on any special offer, then those terms will remain.

As far as I can tell SAV Credit is backed by Palamon Capital, Electra Private Equity and Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners and has been providing cards in the UK since 2001.

Selling credit card brands etc is common - for instance HSBC only acquired the Beneficial and Marbles brands in 2003 itself - they were owned by someone else before.

If HSBC did not think they were able to run this business, they wouldn't have sold it to them..

Regards
Sunil

icon1.gifMarbles changes to card agreement
I got a notice of variation from Marbles a few days ago.
Balance Transfers interest 15.9% per annum.
Cash advances interest 33.9% per annum
I never use the two above, so I don't know if they have risen by much.
Purchases interest 15.9% (used to be 12.9% in my case).
As HSBC have sold off Marbles to Aviemore/Sav, and comparing my new rates to the rates of an aqua credit card, I suppose it's not too bad (for Purchases). They are following the trend.
It seems that HFC is still managing the cardat the moment. Whether they will carry on like that or eventually Aviemore/Sav will manage the marbles accounts at a later date, I don't know, but I have the feeling that more increases will follow next year.

I got my statement today - going upto 34.9% - a rise i cant affford to pay - talking to the [STRIKE]monkeys[/STRIKE] highly trained tree dwelling staff is of no use - met with a resounding NO - am going to write a letter, but doubt that will do any good
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
