What bunch of jokers!!!
:mad::mad::mad:
I'm really really annoyed with British Gas. I've changed suppliers, and am waiting for a final bill from BG . Today I got a letter saying I haven't payed £ xx.xx for electricity used. We never received a bill, the last one which we payed was for £xxx.xx back from August. So I phoned BG at 4pm today to find out what the money owed was. I was told that it was a final electricity bill, I said to the lady the when we receive a copy of the bill in the next few days I will pay it, I need a copy of the bill so we know the meter readings are correct and I know what we are paying for, the lady said that was ok. :T:T:T
I was ok with BG after this call 10 /10 for their customer services.
9pm came and the phone rang  A call from collections who was rather rude to my wife when she answered the phone, she had to pass the phone to me. The fellow started off with me quite abrupt saying he was phoning regarding the money owed, I pointed out to him I had already spoken to someone a few hours earlier, and he should read the notes on the account which he then did, but then went on threating that we should pay the bill or company policy dictates the outstanding amount will be passed on to a debt collection agency with costs incurred.
The collections fellow couldn't care less what I said to him or what I had said to the lovely lady earlier. Don't the BG departments work together?
I'm going to have a lie down in a dark room for an hour :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Thats not just BGas, believe me. Sounds more like a less than useful member of collections who couldn't care less.
If you didn't get a bill, then just got a chaser letter it's probable that either the bill wasn't generated to go out or it's got lost in the post.
Either way, you've done the right thing and said you will pay when you get the copy. Thats tells the collections people enough and they should await your payment.
If the customer service person hasn't recorded info about the issue, then I understand it more. If she had, the collections bod should just back off and set any collection cycle back X days after you get the copy to monitor you.
From experience in various industries, there are good people in collections and then are those who actually think what they do is funny. Suggest if they do that again, demand to speak to a manager and ask why they think that is acceptable when you are doing everything you can to pay.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

go to www.energywatch.org.uk and report your complaint. If they continue to threaten you with debt collection agencies, just ignore it and wait for the bill. Let them waste money on the collection agency, it is their mistake and up to them to sort it out, not you.0 -
Hi Quidsin,
Another shining example of BG at their best!!!!
Have you seen my post regarding what they have done to me!!!!!0 -
Quidsin - your choice entirely but do you want your credit rate affecting and the hassle of debt collectors (plus embaressment)???
If you don't get the bill you could go to Energywatch. Make the complaint about the company though, not 1 idle so and so because Energywatch can't do much about that. You can only sort that with his line manager.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Well, I've sent and e-mail to British gas complaining, my wife got a phone call yesterday while I was out from a BG manager, who couldn't say sorry enough. Energywatch will be my next port of call if anything else happens.
I must say my new energy suppliers so far are FAB, clear and easy to understand bills and when you contact them, everything is explained and any problems have been sorted out strait away.0 -
Great, maybe something will get sorted now.
On the back of the bill there should be some sort of customer relations dept for complaints. Usually Energywatch complaints would go to them (Ofgem made all Suppliers set up a dept to handle complaints to them & Energywatch)
Let us know if it goes wrong again, the BGas MD's name & address in on some threads on here so I can paste it on for you. Sending it to him copying in Energywatch should do something.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

I wasn't going to mention, but now you ask - Equipower & Equigas by Southern Energy. There's no 2 tier price band, just a singe price set just higher than the lower tier by BG, which hopefully will work out cheaper just as long we dont leave lights on etc0 -
Ah, you mean EBICO !!! I'm just in the process of switching to them too
(Incidentally, it's only the admin & customer service side of things that's handled by Southern Electric. Apart from that, they're a separate company)
Can't understand why you weren't going to say, when you've got such good things to say about them! It's good to share!SKIPS STONES FOR FUDGE0
