Hello. I too am heading out there in a month. I wondered if anyone that has been or going, could let me know what the theme park and water park are like for a 2 & 3 & a half year olds? I wonder wether it's worth taking them for a day trip to either, or if there will be nowt much for them to go on/do?

    Have a lovely holiday.

I'd take the train to barcelona. We stayed furthur down south from salou and the train was about an hour, not too expensive and brings you in to the centre of barcelona where you can change to other public transport or just start walking...There were also the stops there for the tourist buses which do circular tours of the city much like the ones in london where you can get off and on at the various touristy type places.
Tickets were available at the station and also on the train. The journey itself is lovely up the coast with some beautiful views of the countryside (and it has to be said some not so nice views of some industrial areas)

There was a station in salou and also one at port aventura

Yes I did my homework, not wanting to have three moaning children 'focus's' the mind shall we shall.

I chose to stay at the Hotel caspel
    http://www.caspel.costa-daurada.com

It seems small enough, the children dont like BIG hotels, it got good reviews as well, I view this as their holiday to be fair.

I shall let you guys know my findings when I get back.

beware trains returning to salou finish between 9-10pm,Iknow this because when we went two years ago we went on the afternoon trip to see the fountains(you must see these) just has we returned to the coach about 10.30pm a couple were running round tying to find a coach to return to salou. They had gone by train and not realised they had missed the last train they were quoted £100 for a taxi, luckily the driver took them for few euros.

The kids will love it. We were there when our son was 3, there are quite a few little rides for young kids in the theme park, our son spend most of the week in a canoe going round and round. The amount of time he went on that more than paid for the price of our tickets! Plus he loved putting half a euro into the water cannons and soaking people on the river rapids ride. The water park wasn't so good. There is a lovely kids bit but every little while a massive bucket of water empties over it and almosts wipes the kids off their feet. My son has been in the water from 6months and has no fear of it but it didn't like that one. There is also an indoor area for kids aswell if I remember it's a soft spongy area full of coloured balls. Definatley worth a visit, I was really impressed with the theme park and would definatley go back again.

    Hi
Ive just come back from Salou (Wed 25May) with my two young children, 3 yr old and 1 yr old.

We went to Port Aventura for the day which was great this time of year as its not too busy. There was only about a 5min wait for the big rides and the most was 15min for the dragon kahn roller coaster.

Most people we asked had purchased passes for a week or two which worked out much cheaper than buying on the day at the park, and they had booked them online. Its 34 Euros per adult a day pass, kids were free for Port Aventura only, cariba water park was extra. we didnt go there.
If I went again i would definately book a pass so you could have a couple of days in rides and a day in water park.

Kids rides: there was a little amadillo ride, horses that go round a track, little kids bumper rides, a carosell, mini helicopers, mini swings. They also have lots of shows going on in the various "areas" but we didnt get round to seeing them except the polynesian one which was good, because two small children get very tired, so would be good if we could have done it in 2 days as we didnt get to see it all.

The 1yr got on a few rides that you can sit on them with.

A word of warning: they are very very strict on the high restrictions for children and "THEY DO CHECK" many children got turned away from rides.

but it was a great day and would recommend it, especially the dragon kahn and the stampida!

If you havent been to salou before there are also lots of Slide/climbing frame and those springy sit on things at various places along the beach to keep them occupied and toilet blocks (handy with kids) just remember to take a toilet roll with you cos they never have any in them!

    Have a great time.

also, there is a little blue train which goes round salou (you will see it) and it goes right to the gate entrance to the park - 7 euros per adult, kids free, thats if you dont fancy the usual bus (1.20 euro) and the kids usually always want to ride on it!
