I am not sure if this is a really an money saving old style topic. But if not feel free to move it.
I was wondering which was better for pillows feather filling or polyester. As I have just washed my polyester ones and they look just as dirty and lumpy.
They do need to be replaced. But which would last the longest. And of course the best place to buy from.

I buy them and chuck them out after a few month, been recommended to do that by my gp cos my son has eczema and athsma.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I recently switched from feather to anti-allergy foam. I was very reluctant as I have had bad headaches when sleeping on foam pillows in thw past & liked the support of feather but Hubby was getting very bad asthma off them, despite them being in double anti-allergy slip cases. The feather ones were donkeys years old though, I think they were the ones my Nan made in the 50's/60's! They went through the washing machine & fluffed up beautifully every time. I bought good quality anti-allergy ones and althoguh I must be getting the neck support beacuse I don't get headaches on them, I don't think they wash nearly as well as feather ones & I expect to have to repalce them approx every 2 years.HTHPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

i read somewhere that after 12months use, 25% of a pillow's weight was made up of dust mites / droppings. doesn't seem very pleasant really

I have heard they are good. We have just moved and I am not working at the moment. So can't justify £30/40 each for a pillow. That would have to changed in a few years time anyway.

I swear by feather pillows. I love them, but understnad that they don't suit everyone.
I bought my current ones about a year ago in sainsbury's of all places! £15 for two. What wonderful value and they have lasted beautifully. I am definately not needing to think about replacing them for another few years or so.
As an aside I hoover my matress and pillows when I change the bedlinen. This makes me *think* that I am getting rid of some of those mights!!!

It's just got to be a down pillow for me...100% white goose down.....bit pricey but sheer bliss...even take mine on holiday with me.....

I'm converting to feather pillows. I found them much noisier than foam to start with, but hardly notice now.
