hi all,
i got a car insurance renewel notice yesterday form direct line. for some reason its gone up by £20. i asked them about this, and i got some snotty email saying that they werent prepared to reduce it. so now im thinking of going with teh post office. i looked on their site and they quoted me £180 (£50 cheaper). has anyone had any expereince with getting their car insurance (or any other insurance) via the post office? are there any hidden costs or caveats?
many thanks

No experience, but check the compulsory excess is all I can suggest.
You will always tend to get some introductory discount in year 1 so it often makes sense to move insurance every year!
Worth checking out Barclays bank who are running a campaign at the moment claiming to beat most rivals quotes.
Good luck

Don't know about Post Office

But:
1. Read 'Car Insurance Rip-Off!!' and try to by new insurance from your current insurance company instead of renewing the old one.
2. Don't get stuck with Post Office. Shop around. Use cashback sites. Lloyds TSB now offers £50 cashback via Linemypocket and Rpoints. Zurich, AA and Screentrade - £30 (Rpoints). You will also find there Churchill, Direct Line (£10) and otheres. Last month I saved 1/3 of my renewal quote.
Other cashback sites: GreasyPalm, MyShopingRewards.0 -
Quoted me £80 cheaper than last years - looks pretty standard insurance
excess was a little higher though. No problem taking policy out, all done on phone
I picked up a few £25 off vouchers (off price quoted) at PO -
Just quote FAD code 2552477 & promotion code MBRA 01
all expire 31 july 20050
