  • Right! Some news from O2 themselves. Data packages are revised at the end of this month. The one mentioned specifically to me was £7.50 for 200MB. Other bundles are in the offing but not confirmed as yet. This info is straight from O2, not from other forums btw. Yes, I know, T-Mob do 1GB for this price but 200MB easily covers my useage and this is much much better VFM than the existing packages. Happy days and repectable bills from the end of the month!

Alec, do you have any further info on this?

I emailed O2 yesterday about it and got this reply:

"I can confirm that O2 will be releasing new data tariffs and this will be available from 1st October 2007.

Unfortunately, I am unable to quote exact details of the tariffs. I would recommend that you call sales on 0800 089 02 02 or visit any O2 store on or after 1st October to discuss these tariffs."

If the sales staff don't know how can they expect people to plan what they're going to buy? Surely this doesn't help their sales ?
  • I've not spoken to o2 myself since i was given this info. Some people on the 3g web forums have been told it's £7.50 200mb, or £30 for 3gb where you can use your phone as a modem for a laptop. 200mb is easily enough for me as i don't use my phone as a modem, but i'm sure some people would like something in between the two packages. I'll give o2 a bell during the week i think!

  • Llyllyll,

If you're still interested (plus anyone else who may be) O2 have updated their tariffs page with the new bolt-ons.

    www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/consumerdatabolton

    To summarise-
£7.50 for 200MB browsing using your phone
£30 for 3GB browsing with a data card.

Both are listed as unlimited with the above FUPs. Anyone know why networks always call stuff unlimited when there is a limit?

That is true. But let me reword it - how are they allowed to do this? Unlimited but with a cap of x-amount. I'm sure more people would complain if they had a 1000 text tariff with a fair use policy of 800..........

What does everyone think of these new data tariffs??I think the cap on the data is there as a guide and if you do go over the 200mb you would just be warned to cut your usage down, just like how the other mobile operators work..eg Orange.

Well I'm content with them. People on other forums have moaned how it's not as good as T-Mob's 1GB for the same price but as I wouldn't reach the limit of either it doesn't really fuss me. I'll struggle to reach 200MB - I have a Nokia 6300 and use Opera Mini and Yahoo Go for browsing and email and have never got near 200MB in a month (well I couldn't afford to before but I was still very poor at rationing my useage!!). Perhaps if I had an N95 I'd think differently but until my current contract ends the middle of next year it's really of no issue, lower bills from now on will keep me happy :j

For whats it intended its seems fair, if you want to stick loyal to o2. I've always been happy with o2 for calls especially overseas ,
data conection was never that good for me, but at old prices I rarely used it.. instead getting a T mobile data deal instead , which I can't fault ( don't over do it, but admit on occasions I use mobile as modem, no issues todate )

losing the 08 inclusive minutes on o2 also a pain

so will be looking at one new deal for calls , and likely a daily PAYG data deal on T Mob used on a separate phone when away from lnadline BB ( 7600 via usb works nicely)

Thanks for the replies and comments.

I to think its a good deal as i doubt I would use over 200mb of data, and even at that its just their fair usage policy so if you did go over it they would just tell you to reduce your usage, this is what someone in business customer services told me... As far as the advisor is concerned if it means unlimited it unlimited!!

I've got the £5 evening and weekend add on with Orange at the moment, going to cancel that and use the O2 £7.50 Bolt On as I prefer O2 to Orange.

With regards to the 08 numbers remember and use 07730 666890 after 7pm and all weekend for calls to 0844/0870/0845/0800/0500 numbers. This is recognised as an O2 mobile number and will simply come out your inclusive mins.
