Keyword Spamming?? Help!

Options
Hi

I've just had an email from eBay saying they've removed one of my listings due to keyword spamming. The actual listing was 'Grey M&S School Skirt - Age 8 - Like New". I've looked through all the info in eBay help about keyword spamming but can't find anything that would relate to my listing. Can anyone tell me why it might have been removed?

I've already emailed eBay and asked, but don't expect a reply in the near future!!

Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this

Have you tried their live chat? might be quicker... sounds like someone has reported your item (possibly mistyping a number?) and they have pulled it without checking... typical Ebay really :)

Because you put new in the title of a used item, you can put like new in your listing description but not in your title. Anyone searching using keywords skirt & new would bring up your item which isn't new.

But I've been putting 'as new' and 'like new' in items for YEARS. Is this a new rule? A quick search on 'like new' has brought up 2411 items, and 'as new' brings up 16737!!! Surely it can't have been removed because of this?!

Can't find anything in Ebay help relating to inapproriate use of 'new' either?

Yes they seem to be tightening up on this one, there have been numerous posts about 'as new' recently.
  • There doesn't appear to be anything on the Ebay site about it, but it has been discussed a lot on this forum.

It is one of the daftest Ebay rules as they do not seem to believe that things can be "As New".

'As new' and 'like new' are the new Bonnie & Clyde ;)

    Here are a few examples

"like new" is what caused you grief.

For some reason ebay has gone from being a great place to flog things to a complete minefield.

It's amazing that a multibillion $$ company treats it's customers so badly.

You'd think they could at least have a UK call centre to sort out the problems...

  • ebay see it as "its either new or used" so you really shouldnt be using "as new" or "like new", one of their more ridiculous rules but there you go....

if you feel angry report any one of the 2411 items which came up on your search, it may make you feel better!!
