London Gatwick to New York JFK, sub £200 return INCLUDING all taxes!

Options
What's the deal?

Budget airline Flyzoom has a summer sale with return flights from London Gatwick to New York JFK for as little as £198.75, INCLUDING all taxes and charges.

To get these prices, journeys must be booked before 25 August for travel between 10 September and 15 December '07.

How easy is it to get flights at this price?

Once on Flyzoom's website, enter travelling dates between 10 Sept and 15 Dec for a round trip. A list of available flights will appear, and by selecting outbound flights costing £129 and inbound at £69.75, you'll nab yourself the cheapest price.

For an extra £90 you can opt for a seat upgrade, with a whopping 36" legroom.

How does this compare to other airlines?

Although the competition's usually fierce for such a popular route, similar dates with both British Airways and Virgin, at cheapest, cost around £300 (or a whopping £535 for an upgraded seat) so this offer knocks a third off.

Of course, some may argue the standard of service differs between budget carriers and the better known, more expensive ones, but if you're not fussed about the type of film you see or aren't after Nigella Lawson type cuisine, the saving speaks for itself.

  • Just checked this out. Friends of mine are going to NY in Jan 08, and the price is coming out at only £249 each, for a round trip on the dates they're interested in. More shopping around to do before the decision is made, but this site is definately worth a look.
  • I am doing the NYC marathon on the 4th November, and a return flight leaving from Gatwick on the 1st November and returning late Monday 5th November (arriving in the morning of the 6th), was sub £200.

I booked mine ages ago with delta airlines, via travelsupermarket, and that was cheap, but this is seriously cheap!

Great fine, website is easy to use too
    Rock on MSE!!!

Flights are getting cheaper, from Manchester - LaGuardia US Airways are doing fares for around £222... and US Airways is a better airline that Zoom

Shouldn't this be in the in the New York Thread?! *grins*

be very very careful. This arline has a very patchy record when it comes to reliability. They have no spare aircraft on this route, which mean if the plane develops a fault you are in for serious delays.

Check out this review before you book.

Many of the major airlines will get you to New York for around £220. In this case i think its worth paying alittle extra to get some safeguards.

Where are you finding these - a couple of searches is giving me US Airways prices way higher.
    Thanks

The airlines often have sales in early September, usually kicked off by BA, so if you are thinking of travelling off peak, you have may have more choice at good prices if you wait a little.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • One warning with Zoom's premium seats. While you get more leg room, you the seat and the seat width is the same as in Economy. You're still elbow fighting with your neighbour during meals.

BA/ Virgin Already have a sale for booking before 4 Sep. Around £240 in November - 09 Dec, £280 in Sep - Oct. Read the above reviews from Airline Quality - I think you'd be mad to risk Zoom at the moment they are really struggling with a lack of working airplanes, and long, long delays seems to be the norm at the moment. Considering that BA alone have 10 daily flights from London - New York, if one of their planes malfunctions, then there is plenty of support.
  • I priced up a flight on BA.com from Heathrow to LaGuardia for the beginning of November for £129 each way all inc. picking from Mon - Wed or Mon - Mon.

    £258 round trip Bargin!

BA.com won't offer you a fare to LaGuardia and anyway with regards to markymoos post you can't fly direct to LGA from the UK so you need to factor in the inconveniece of changing flights in the US to arrive there...i don't believe when looking at the US carriers that there's ever been any price saving that's been worthwhile to fly into this airport for NYC.
of the three main airports in the NYC area this has the shortest taxi journey into midtown but public transport is far poorer than JFK or EWR.
in essence if you are making internal trips within the states it may be worth considering LGA ...but if you are flying transatlantic i think you'll be hard pushed to find a better alternative than the usual direct JFK or EWR flights.
    but i'm open to suggestions
