Hello all you clever people!

Every now and then I get the dreaded blue screen of death, I've tried unloading loads of recently added programs but it still happens! I've been reading and understand it can be a driver problem or various other things. I also saw somewhere that it is possible to determine what it is from the blue screen message? Well anyway, here's the message if anyone can offer any advice I would be very appreciative! :)

Thank you but unfortunately not, perhaps I should have said, it's a Dell Inspiron laptop, running Windows XP, nVidia Graphics card, wireless internet connection. I am totally out of ideas as to what to do with it, surely there has to be a more attractive option than formatting it! :(

You could try PC Bug Doctor here. I haven't used it, but they advertise free diagnosis, and free solutions. Worth a shot.
I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

One thing all these different ppl have in common is.....

There all using a wireless adaptor. I'm pretty sure its a bad driver.

I found this in another forum......others are saying the blue screen happends wen using torrents or limewire etc.

Today I installed the driver Centrino 2200BG version 8.1.0.25 and I dont get blue screens anymore.

Apparently this is available on the IBM website.

Thank you so so much for all your help.

The model is Intel (R) PRO Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection (hope that's what you meant by the model!)

    Driver version is 8.0.12.12000

Thank you, I have tried it but to enable it to fix the serious errors you need to subscribe for $39 & then there's no guarentee it'll fix it. However if I still have no luck I may buy it at a later date :)

No, it still has the original 512 MB RAM that it came with. Thanks for the idea though :)

The wireless adapter you mention is the exact same model as listed in T4i's post.

I'd recommend you use System Restore (assuming you have XP) and create a backup and then go to the site listed in T4i's post and download the driver and install it.

If you're using XP and the new driver makes it worse you can roll-back to the old driver (XP has this facility) and/or the option to go back to a previous System Restore point before the driver was installed would bring your system to the same state it is in now (before updating the driver).

I'm sure T4i would agree with me on this?

    Does this make sense?
