Balance transfer fee For all new customers who apply after 1 May 2005 a handling fee of 2% will be applied to balance transfers made in your introductory balance transfer period (except where we tell you otherwise). The maximum handling fee is £50.

What are you talking about, it says:

0% interest until 1 February 2006 on balance transfers from credit/store cards, overdrafts and loans, then at 14.9% pa variable. For each balance transfer there is a 2% handling fee (maximum £50).

They are now charging new applicants 2% for BTs (capped at £50) where previously there was no handling fee.
I saw it only after I had just applied 5 minutes ago :(
Tho it will still be useful as a mule once the intro period is over... provided they dont introduce a charge for everyone.

Oh...I was thinking the last sentence belongs to the "then (feb 2006)..." from the last sentence. ;o)

Well this means the dead of free BT's.

I see they have upped there introductory period from 6 months to 9 months though. So it's not _that_ bad I suppose.

I couldn't find the text you quote on the web site though.

4.3 If you applied for your Card from 1 May 2005 we may charge a handling fee of 2% (maximum fee £50) of the amount of:

each Transferred Balance made during the introductory 0% interest rate period; and

each Transferred Balance made under a Special Promotion.

Does this mean that those new cardholders can still use the card for transfers outside of the promotion periods - as a 'mule in other words - and not be charged a fee? It does look like that.

BTW I'm on my second anniversary transfer, currently. Do we get a third one in 2006 as things stand or is it restricted to two years running does anyone know?

    [Thanks]
