free photoshop type software?

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help. New to the photo editing game so was wondering if anyone could recommend a free photoshop style editing suite?

  Sounds like you're looking for the GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program)

  As you're a beginner, I'd suggest the simpler but more than capable Paint.NET to start you off.

  Dont forget Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/. One of the best free photo editors around and particularly useful if you are a newbie.
