FAO: Those on o2 Online PAYG
Having just received the free sims I requested a while back I noticed something that I wasn't aware of (and don't remember reading it on this forum but my apologies if I missed it) so here goes:-
For those on the o2 Online PAYG with the 300 free text option you can now change over to o2 Online Talkalotmore. You still get 300 free text but if you top-up by £15 you can also get 150 off-peak* any network minutes. For those that top-up by £30 each month they will get 300 off-peak* any network minutes again in addition to the 300 free texts.
Those wishing to switch over to o2 Online Talkalotmore (the tariff mentioned above), you can opt-in by texting TALKALOTMORE to 21300, or by dialling 2425 and follow the instructions.
TARIFFS BY O2 ONLINE:
For topping-up by £10 each month you can get either:-
> Up to 100 free anyone, anytime minutes or up to 100 free UK texts each month. 1 minute is equal to 1 free text and vice-versa. Therefore, using 10texts would mean you had 90 free minutes left that month. This tariff is known as Online Talkalot with Calls and Messages and to switch to this tariff, text the word ONCALLSMSG to 21300.
> 300 free UK texts. This tariff is known as Online Talkalot with Messages and to switch to this tariff, text the word ONMSG to 21300.
For topping-up by at least £15 (or £30) each month you can get:-
> 150 off-peak* any network minutes and 300 free texts based on topping-up by £15 each month.
> 300 off-peak* any network minutes and 300 free texts based on topping-up by £30 each month.
The above tariff that provides both 300 texts and either 150 or 300 off-peak* minutes is known as Online Talkalotmore and is mentioned in the second paragraph above.
With all tariffs mentioned above you get the usual 1mb of GPRS WAP and remember that the £10, £15 or £30 (or whatever) that you top-up by is still yours to keep and use as credit in addition to one of those free monthly allowances above and remember that any texts/calls outside the free monthly allowances are charged at normal PAYG rates. Which are:-
Calls (landlines or other o2 mobiles): 25p per minute for the first 3minutes that day, 5p thereafter for the remainder of that day (except at weekends when it is only 2p after the first 3 minutes).
Calls (other networks): 40p per minute all the time!
Texts: 10p
MMS: 25p
For more info on the above o2 online tariff's click here.
(* for those with free off-peak minutes as indicated above, your free minutes apply from 7.30pm (not 7pm) to 7.30am Monday-Friday and all day Saturday & Sunday)
UPDATE:
As mentioned in recent posts, you can dial 4444 (free from your o2 mobile) and choose option 2, then 2 again and this will inform you of your remaining free texts/calls allowance as well as your anniversary date.

What I would like to know is how do you find out how many texts you have used in any one month so that you don't often go over the limit. Its not me asking but a button crazy teenage daughter.
Thanks

Husband has one of these sims. He doesn't think its possible to know how many txts he's done in a month, but suddenly he'll notice O2 are starting to charge for them. You'd need to know what your call balance is to notice a drop by 10p tho!
There's a lot to read up on this sim. I like the way you don't need to top up each month. Your txts will cease to be free, but once you top up again they'll resume - may take up to 48hrs tho. Good for those that don't use even £10 a month.
Thanks to BBB_uk for posting the changes. O2 seem to be constantly reviewing this sim. Also, would anyone care to explain to me what on earth you can do with 1mb of WAP? We don't have a clue what it is or what it does... but it sounds good!Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

As far as i'm aware there is no network command/feature that would display how many texts have been sent apart from, as suggested earlier, waiting until balance drops 10p when sending a text or e-mailing o2 after about 2weeks since the anniversary date and ask them how many texts have been sent which would give you a rough idea of when you daughter (if your daughter hasn't already) gonna run out.0 -

The other is via GPRS which is upto 10 times faster (like broadband on a computer) than ordinary WAP (dial-up) but you get charged depending on how many wap pages you view or downloads you do (like downloading ringtones, images, etc). It is this where o2 give you 1mb of free GPRS WAP but your phone has to support WAP via this GPRS for you to get the free GPRS wap although most phones do.
Unfortunately, it's not really that possible to say how many wap pages you can view or ringtones, etc you can download because each wap page or ringtone can be different sizes (ringtones are bigger than wap pages though).
For more info on WAP when using o2 (known as o2 Active), see this.0
