Hi
I know this is probably one of the most basic questions, but we've just got broadband (living in a very small village!) and now the kids are starting to go on certain sites which I'm not very happy about.
Could someone please tell me how to block certain sites, as in particular web addresses? It would be a great help!
Thanks in advance

You can use the Hosts Files to do this
There's an audio show about them here (Episode 45), along with some links to help.
(though it might be a bit techie - maybe someone could link to easier guides)
though it would be even better if you had a router capable of blocking sites (Harder for them to change anything you've done). If you have a router you should check its manual to see if it can do it.0 -
something like zone alarm firewall (can be got free) with parental control on it. just set which kind of sites you want to block ie gambling.adult etc0

Add them into your restricted zone in IE or you can do it via the hosts file using something like this

and

or in IE,

Install K9 web protection, it's free and will allow you to manage and monitor exactly which web sites they visit.

I second K9 Web Protection for preventing young kids to see unsuitable sites. There was a thread with advice on this subject a few months back:
