I like the simple maths approach to pizza's! Thanks Martin, but I'd argue that the pizza crust is always the same thickness no matter the pizza radius, so using your example:
Circumference is 2πr :. radius directly proportional to circumference
2*8" pizzas have circum factor of 16 where 12" pizza stays at 12. Proportionally 33% more crust if you buy the 2 * 8", and we all know pizza is all about the topping Right! - stick to 1 * 12".0 -

Quite true and I knew someone would write that - yet the equation is commutative and this is not about "finding the area" but "finding the relative area" so rather than making people halve the diameter to get the radius - the proportions are the same just by squaring the radius and it works.

The money-saving pizza is the one you make yourself. Some of the prices charged for a delivered pizza are outright robbery considering the cost of ingredients is just a pound or two.
Yes, not as convenient - but much cheaper!
Try this - buy some par-cooked baguettes from the supermarket (those that come in a bag, and have a shelf life of several weeks) - cut in half, put some ready-made pasta sauce on it, and some cheese, then pop in the oven. Voila - instant pizza.0 -

Domino's seem to always have a flyer somewhere offering "any pizza, any size" for some set amount (£9.99 round here I think). So obviously buying a large whatever is best value
You don't even need the flyer, just mention when you order that you recall a flyer offering any pizza, any size for £8.99 "or something like that", and they'll probably suggest what the current offer is...student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
Here's a more accurate version of the maths showing pizza areas.
All area sizes are in square inches..
6" = 28.3
7" = 38.5
8" = 50.3
9" = 63.6
10" = 78.5
11" = 95.0
12" = 113.0
13" = 132.7
14" = 153.9
15" = 176.7
And some comparisons at which to do a deal!
2x7” is > 1x9” and just about as good as 1x10”
2x8” > 1x11”
2x9” > 1x12”
2x10” > 1x14”
2x12” > 1x15”
Of course making your own is best value, but using these figures may help you make Money Saving Pizzas at home!0 -

At my Dominos (yes, it's mine... nobody else is allowed to use it!), the £9.99 any pizza and size is for collections only. Not a problem for me, as it's only 2 mins down the road and it's much quicker than waiting for delivery anyway.0
