Transfer to Ruffler ISA: how does it work?

I am pondering transferring my full cash ISA (which at present is still with A&L) out to Ruffler Bank , http://www.rufflerbank.co.uk/savings/isas.php
I don't understand how the process works.
Can anyone help?
I assume:
a) You fill in the Ruffler form (but that does not seem complete in the trnasfer section as it does not even ask your previous provider ISA account number!! They just ask the name...).
What then? Should you wait a letter of confirmation from Ruffler with your new ISA account number? and Then call A&L to confimr the transfer?
Or will Ruffler do the request to A&L directly?
Also does Ruffler adopt those automatic electronic identity checks that some banks have in place or do you need to send documents etc by post?

...but you do have to enter your National Insurance Number so that fixes you pretty solidly.
When we transferred, we had to send all the documents by post (recorded). They were returned pretty quickly.“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”
