There is a thread here about cheap LCD tvs http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=453489

there someone mentioned maximtvs.com

stupidly I purchased a tv from them this morning for £150, then on research it seems that they are a fraud. I know I should have done my research before the purchase, its too late now.

There is no way to contact them. I purchased a tv this morning using paypal. there is an email contact for them and when I emailed for their phone contact they refuse to give it to me. I emailed then to cancel the order and there is no response.

Also, on theur website it mentioned that there will be charge for delivery, however on checkout delivery stated was zero. That aroused my supicion.

Can I do anything about it and if so with whom? with paypal or my credit card by which I paid via paypal?

I noticed on my paypal that £150 has been taken away from my account and it says that the transaction is completed.

Is there a way for me to claim the money back?

Has anyone else had any similar experiences

Would also contact who your credit card is with, although it might read payment has been made i doubt it will have left your account straight away, and of course contact PP as above. I'd get on the phone asap.
Hope it gets sorted out for you......

the maximtvs site is definately dodgy as there is no way to contact them.

What's wrong with the 'contact' button on their home page? http://www.maximtvs.com/contact.php it works for me.

is there a easy way to contact paypal? from their website it seems that first you have to wait for the delivery of the item so you have to allow some time for that before you take up the matter.

I would have thought that there should be a way to tackle these problem early on like this one as soon as you find sosmething fishy.

does anyone know what the best route to contact paypal regarding this? Can they not do something about it since it is only today that the transaction was made, can they not stop or claim the money back immidiately?

Site looks dodgy to me - I wouldn't use it. I would not recommend anyone else to either.

Several links/urls don't work for me either (Opera browser).
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

yeah the site was only registered late march.

The pages that don't work should have the extention .php not .htm like they have.

He'll have to ring those numbers see if they work.

£150 32" bush lcd.. is that a refurb or second hand?

This is clever getting you to pay by Paypal. You are paying Paypal and not the supplier of the goods. So your Credit Card Company is very unlikely/will not want to be interested as you have not paid the supplier but what amounts to a factoring agency (i.e Paypal). This is the same scam oops sorry policy that Credit Card companies use when travel firms or airlines go pop and you have paid the travel agent rather than the supplier direct. They say you had no contract with the supplier and neither had they got a relationship with them so you ahve to cahse the “agent” for satisfation.

Your best bet if you do not get the TV is to register a dispute with Paypal and hope they act responsibly. But I wouldn't bank on it. BTW Paypal is owned by Ebay. Win Win for them!!!
