New York airports

Can anybody tell me which airport you would recommend arriving into for a weekend break to New York? Ive no idea of the location of them and how much it would cost to get into the city from each.

Hi there I went to New york a few years ago, I flew into jfk and I cant remember how the cab was but I think it wasnt a great deal about $30, Be awre that the cab drivers try and get a larger tip from you saying that you should give them a larger tip as they had to pay to use the holland tunnel and I flew out of la guardi, Again cheap cab rid and a quick and efficent airport.

I hope this helps in s9ome way and a place you have to go is Canal street its a sreet full of shops selling real good quality knock offs anything you can imagine, Dont buy from the tous at the ticket booths or ferry points to staton island and liberty island as they are about 5 times the price of canal street
  • I usually love flying into EWR (Newark) cause I live in New Jersey but La Guardia & JFK - I don't like JFK cause it's really grotty and grimy. Stick with La Guardia or my personal favorite, EWR.

New York Airports port authority web-site gives the details as to how far and how to get into New York.

I'd say JFK, La Guarda and then EWR in that order.

You can get from JFK to New York by subway, just don't carry too much luggage.

I whould say La Guardia is much better than JFK, we came in from orlando to La Guardia then back via JFK.
La Guardia is also closer to the city.

Also, I think you can get a train from NYC to La Guardia quite easily. I think the train station is the one near Madison Square Garden.

I think the standard cab fare from JFK to anywhere in Manhattan is $45 + about $2 for tolls. Beware though if you share the cab with another party, if you're going to more than one hotel, that price only counts for the first stop. You're then metered after that.

Coming back from Manhattan to the airport though, the cab is metered and La Guardia is closer than JFK.

Newark is my personal favourite, as you can get the air train into the centre of Manhattan in 1/2 hour for $11 one way.

You can either get a subway to your hotel, or a taxi, which will then be really cheap since you will be in the centre

We used https://www.supershuttle.com i think its about $30-35 return each. They use 7 seater mini buses and drop you off at the hotel. no hidden charges, just tip the driver a dollar per bag.

Newark is better than JFK. Never flown into La Guardia. The taxis are fixed rate from JFK to Manhattan but not from Manhattan to JFK so you can spend twice as much getting back to the airport. Newark has a train (one change) and a bus straight to the centre.
