Morsbags - make your own bag for life!!

Options
Having found this website i thought the thread would be best placed here?

Get your sewing machines out Ladies and Gentlemen(?)

Basically you can join the site and join a local group and make "morsbags" ie bags for life - at the moment from what i have read they are being distributed locally by the groups to encourage people not to use plastic bags anymore.

This site looks really good, has its own forums for help and advice, and all making instructions are on the site! - i am SURE there are enough people on here that will read this and think its a good idea, and could really make a difference!

I will come back and upload a picture of their sample work (after i have checked its ok with them)! I must also add this is NOT my creation!!

I knew there would be somewhere out there to get simple instructions. Looks like I shall have to start sewing. I have loads of curtain fabric to cut up. Good and strong. I love the labels. May try printing some out!

Maybe you could join a pod (group) already making them, or start one yourself.

Hey Seakay. I couldn't get in using the link either but if you Google 'morsbags' it worked that way.

I have just made my own bag out of a teatowel using the pattern from this link
http://sewing.about.com/od/freeprojects/ss/totebag.htm It is a bit narrower than I wanted so am using it to store my baby's toys in. In retrospect I should have taken the straps from the length and not the width  Anyhow, using teatowels isn't necessary :p I just liked the pattern.

On a similar vein, I made a PE bag for my DD out of a handtowel - it was a second and cost £1-25 rom Dunelm. It already had a 'hollow' seem along the short edges so I foleded it in half and ran a row of stitching from the folded end towards the open end leaving approx 1/4 of the side unstitched (to make it easier to get kit in and out). I threaded some PJ/Curtain Cord through the top - one PE bag.
