Orange Mobile Contract Advice Needed Please!

Hi Everyone,

I've just been offered a few upgrade deals (I was going to go for a cashback deal but think I might just go with one of these for ease and peace of mind.) My contract is with Orange and I've been offered:

1) 350 minutes plus 200 texts for £15 p/m (magic no, free broadband)
2) 700 minutes plus 100 texts for £20 p/m (magic no, free broadband, free calls to landlines)
3) 850 minutes plus 350 texts for £25 p/m (magic number, free broadband, free calls to landlines)

I don't really want to be paying as much as £25 and I don't think I really need as many as 850 mins so I've pretty much ruled that one out. I would prefer the higher minutes on offer with the 2nd option but probably wouldn't use as much as 700 minutes either. The problem I'm having is that something around 500 mins with 250-300 texts would be ideal for me but these are the only 3 choices they're offering. I currently use around 300-350 mins but I do go over it occasionally. I also currently use just over 100 texts but on occasional months I'll go over that so I'm a little worried about only having 100 texts. I ended up with too many huge bills a couple of years ago from sending too many texts so I've had 500 texts this year and not goy anywhere near using them! Sod's law.

So what I'm wondering is what do you experts think is the best deal out of the three? Plus if I went for the 2nd option and ended up needing extra texts is there anywhere I could get a text deal cheaply? The Orange bundles don't seem that great but I've seen T-Mobile PAYG offers texts for 3p each - is that the best out there? I'm guessing if I just got one of their PAYG Sims then if I ended up stuck for texts I could just use that. Would be a bit of a hassle though.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Regards

Michelle

wow all good offers. I`d love to be on a low contract. Take the £20, best of both.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm still dithering over a decision on this. I've been looking online again and I see that Orange also have a 500mins 500 texts tariff that I wasn't offered - this would be a much better split for me so I was just wondering if anyone else has been offered this at a decent discounted price by them lately? Thanks.

    Regards

^was this from orange direct over the phone
basically the deals youve been offered are the standard plans but at a discounted rate
no 2 on your list is the racoon £35 so looks like theyre just giving ou £15 off any plan
the 500mins and 500 texts is a 3rd party offer
if you go through orange it would be 500min and unlimited texts, its also usually £35 so they should give you this deal for the £20 also

    Hi Reehsetin,

Yes it was through talking direct to the Orange Cancellations Dept - I actually did phone up to cancel and just take a chance with a cashback deal but the deals they've offered made me think twice (I'm willing to pay an extra couple of quid a month to not have the hassle of cashback to be honest as I've heard so many horror stories even about the more reputable ones.) Anyway, thanks for that - I think I'll ask them about the 500 mins and unlimited texts option as that sounds more like what I need. I just felt the 350 mins 200 texts was a bit too low for me yet the 700 mins with 100 texts was good for minutes but not enough texts and want something kind of inbetween. Thanks.

    Regards

I've just been looking on the Orange website - it looks like they've recently changed the Dolphin 35 and Racoon 35 packages to 600 mins with unlimited texts and 800 mins with 100 texts respectively too. Might be worth mentioning that to them too! :D

After some of the traumas I've had with Orange lately (broadband related mind you not mobile) I'm not averse to a bit of arguing with them! :D Thanks for the info.
