Hi
Great to see the article has been updated, and thanks Martin for a great website and forum.
I do love your articles but I would like to comment on this one - hope I'm not breaking the rules.
I really expected TopCashBack to get reviewed in this article. I know it is mentioned in the links at the bottom, but were its cashback rates reviewed at all for the main article? I think the site stood a good chance of being named outright winner - or at least a close second.
Of the retailers mentioned in the article TopCashBack has the highest cashback rates for at least one of them (Currys) and is equal in first place on most of the others. Couple this with their £2.50 signup bonus (meaning first year admin charge is only £2.50) also the fact that TopCashBack offers a refer-a-friend scheme and don't charge for BACS payments - and as I say, the site is surely one of the best cashback sites out there (and irrefutably the most generous in terms of charges).
The site was launched in the summer two years ago - so I think it has proven that it is serious and here to stay. The TopCashBack thread on your Referrers Board may not be as busy as some other threads - but comments on the thread are at least as positive as any other board. Does the site really not yet deserve a mention in this article? Does anyone else think so?
Thanks very much

One question regarding these cashback sites - should you pay tax on whatever you earn from them or not?0
-
Hi skim
My understanding is that, on the whole, cashback earnings are not actually seen as earnings but discounts. Therefore, no tax needs to be paid. The same applies to cashback earned on your Tesco or Sainsburys reward cards.
Please realise, this is just what I have heard. I am in no way qualified to give tax advice and if in doubt, then I guess you should speak to someone who is.
Hope that helps.

I would rate TopCashBack second only to Quidco, being their equal or even better in some respects, although the latest Quidco SureShop initiative must in my opinion make it the market leader.0 -
I have to agree I think TCB is a popular site and thus it would have been nice to been mentioned if only to give more choice, its every bit good as Quidco for my shopping needs although it would be nice to expand there range as some are on Quidco and not mentioned on TCB
I appreciate that not all cashback site scan be covered there are hundreds some have a very poor payout, whilst other like Quidco, TCB pay 100% for a small fee0 -
Thanks very much Rogerb and Poppycat
I think it is fair to say that you are both known for 'saying it like it is' - so your opinions are very much appreciated.
Rogerb - we are looking into the possibility of something similar - just as I'm sure all cashback sites are. The affiliate networks are working on a way of enabling this across the board - so you can no doubt expect to see similar popping up here and there, although that may take a little time. In general however, our primary aim is to concentrate on providing the best value (cheapest) service in the sector.
Poppycat - comment about the range taken on board. We are due a bit of a campaign of adding retailers and are aiming to make it more of a priority in future.“Official Company Representative

It didnt make it in there on the comparison we did, but i will take another peek - this article isn't going mainstream (ie in the weekly email) for a fortnight; and there are other tweaks to be made, but I wanted a basic article up as it is linked to in the internet shopping article. Also all these posts are in the wrong thread, so I am going to have them moved

I have to say that I am quite disappointed with the rewritten article. I mailed the mse webmaster a number of months back to point out that TCB were not even mentioned in the article that was on the site at that point in time, to be told that the article was being rewritten, so not to worry.
Well the article I feel is very biased towards Quidco, with a very cursary mention of TCB. Greasypalm gets more prominence and they offer no where near the levels of cashback that TCB do (most offers I checked out were indeed only half the value that TCB offer).
I am in no way connected with TCB but I am a very happy user, and i feel that they have been unfairly treated.0 -
Hi Martin
Thanks for having another look. I can't ask for more than that!
Cheers

Quidco now only pays 4p per Carsourse search, it says 8p in the article.0
