Beware the air cooler types don't actually cool the air, they just make it feel cooler, like a fan really. Better invest in an air conditioner if the heat is that bad ;)

I just bought this yesterday for £169 from argos ( had a few argos vouchers to use)

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4150619.htm

its quite good if the room is small. Its a bit noisy though .If you are a light sleeper then you have to get one of the more expensive ones or go for a split AC.

£169 may seem too high (compared to a fan) but remember that its going to be hot over the next 3 months. So it works out to less than £2 per day. I wonder how much my elec bill is going to be though!!!

I got two from B&Q last year... if I was you... get them now before they have a run on them because they will run out :( The Air Con machines have a fan on too if you want to just use that, but there is nothing more delicious than going into an icy cold bedroom on a stonking hot day and climing into fridgy cool sheets.... utter bliss. They also have timers on them or temp controls so you don't get frozen solid in the night. Ours cost about £200 each. Well worth the money.
  • Out of interest, if it says it's a 2.9kW - does that mean it's the equivalent of using 29 100W light bulbs?? :o

No 29 100w bulbs would make your house VERY hot.

The argos web site is not updated with current stocks. When I checked the argos website it said that there were none in stock in my town to reserve. I just went to argos on a whim and there were 5 in stock and bought one.

I saw another guy buying one as well and they said that they had sold 3 yesterday.

So If you are planning to buy it buy it this week.

    :rotfl: Thanks!

What I'm getting at is the power consumption - will the power usage be the same?

this might be the £200 ones. http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/templates/content_lookup.jsp?content=/miscellaneous/airforce/mobile_unit.jsp&linktype=af_mobile
There are various others that you can install but are around £600:eek:
